We use one of the blue or green luminescent nightlights.  They provided a soft warm light, are flat against the plug, use very little electricity and act as a plug protector, covering the other plug.  I hope you know what I'm talking about.  Like previously mentioned, it may be a little scary for them waking up in a strange place and you need to be able to see to tend to them just like they need to be able to see and make sure everything is OK.  We put the pack and play on top of the dinette (folded down of course).

Like others mentioned, prepare for the worst.  For most of us, dialing 911 at home will result in a wonderful emergency response, probably in less than 5 minutes.  You're camping to get away from everything and unfortunately, that includes Emergency Response.  Don't get me wrong, they will come, but not necessarily as fast as you might expect.  Also, know your location.  Not every 911 center has GPS capablility and your cell phone call may be routed to the incorrect jurisdiction simply because of which tower your call is being handled by.

Camping with your family is a wonderful thing.  It almost brought a tear to my eye thinking about you with your son as I wish I was doing the same with my children.  As many with children older than mine will tell you, this will build memories they will carry for a lifetime.  Hopefully they will share the same memories with their children because of what you started!

away on business and missing my wife and children as well as camping....:(

Quote from: HandymanBrand New trialer camper. My family just purchased a used 92' Coachman Camper in really good condition. We've got the trailer hitch installed, the trailer is cleaned and every thing tested seems to work ok. We have a 16 month old son and I'm wondering if anyone has any tips or suggestions for us camping the first time with him this weekend? Any good stories or tips would be of much help to us. I guess we're going to learn ourselves for our specific situation but we'd love some help from the veteran campers. Thanks from the totally excited first time trailer campers. YEAHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!! :canada:

Ahh TODDLERS got to love em.  We have a 2 1/2 year old.  Last year we did the pack and play on top of the dinette.  This year we picked up one of those bed guards so the kids don't fall out of bed.  Much easier then the pack and play.  Our latern has a night light.

The seat thing is true, they are just to small for the picnic camper.  As for naps, our toddler doesn't know the word.  So I suggest THE POOL!  Sleep real good after a good hour or so in the pool.  As for toys we have the Camper Toys that he plays with.

I have a 7 year old 6 year old and the 2 1/2.  By far have more fun camping with the baby.  My guy likes bubbles.  He loves to help "daddy" with the camper and searching for wood.

I would suggest to relax and enjoy.  Don't expect much just be a kid and play along.  Go to the play ground, pool any activities.  You would be suprised at the end of the day EVERYONE is tired.  Plus have some great memories.

My guy likes to explore so make sure the camper door lock works really well.
Good Luck...
