Round convex mirrors

I put these two round convex mirrors on each of my side mirrors to help with backing and so I could see the whole PU when driving.  I don't like them at all.  Now how in the world do I get these off?  They are attached with double sided tape.  Will nail polish remover work?

You should be able to pry them off using a wooden shim, plastic scraper or other pry tool.  Do NOT use a screwdriver or other metal implement as that would probably scratch your mirror.  Once you get the old mirror off, peel of any excess tape remaining.  Then you can use WD40, acetone, Goo Gone, Goof Off or any other commercially available adhesive remover to the remaining tape and adhesive.

Just looked at your TV and there are commercially availble extension mirrors that are custom fitted to most popular SUVs and PickUps, but not yours :( There are also generic models that fit most vehicles and would probably fit yours.  With these types of mirrors, you put them on when you tow and take them off when your done.  Mine slide on the mirrors and install in about a minute each.  They are kind of pricey, but much cheaper than backing into something or someone.

HERE is a link to JC Whitney's list of mirrors.  you will see the generic ones range from $12-$39/side.  They have two different generic ones.  You may or may not choose to buy one for both sides.

Thanks tknick,

I will try that.  I might try putting some of that adhesive remover on their first before trying to pry off.  I pulled on them a little already and saw that my TV mirror started flexing.  I know i don't want to bust it.  Honda probably would charge in the hundreds to replace.  I'm getting rid of this TV probably next year.  I'm fed up with Honda.  They wanted over $800 to add the tow package to it.  No thanks.  I would rather get something else.  Before I leave Honda however I will take a look at the new truck.

3M makes a spray adhesive remover that works great on lossening the tape.
company got the idea to put them on all their vehilces.  Vehicle damage went thru the roof.  Clipping, backing into things, etc.  Had us remove them from the entire fleet.  Just spray it on, (has a tube to fit in the nozzle for precise spray)
around edge of stick on, wait about 5 mins and it falls right off.  If you pry too much ( read that even just a little) especially on GMs you'll pull the whole mirror lens out of the housing and they can be a bugger to get to latch without breaking the clips.  It's called 3M Adhesive Remover.  Pep Boys carries it by me.

Great.  Thanks.

I understand about the damage increasing.  Not only do these things not help me they actually make my TV mirrors less useful.

I hear ya.  On a fleet of about 100 vehicles, the comptroller said they were spending about $5,000.00 anually on vehicle damage repairs pre mirror installation.
After the installition he said almost 1 year to the day  and said that they had paid out close to $70,000.00 and some claims had  not been settled yet.  The Superintendent of Vehicles came down and said "Take those @$#&ing things off now!

On my Explorer, you cannot replace only the glass mirror.  you have to replace the whole mirror assembly (the entire thing bolted to the outside of the door).  cost me about $200 to buy the thing and about an hour to remove the door panel, replace the mirror and reinstall the door panel.

BE CAREFUL!
