Hi, Where is a good campground to stay in the area, say less than 30 minutes away fro williamsburg/buschgardens? We have decided to spend a few days next month visiting the area...Thanks for any input!

We are going to stay at Newport News Park Campground for a night on our way to VA Beach for the 4th.  Friends of ours are staying there for 11 days leaving next Thursday after work, I'll write back after they call to check in and post how it is.

I grew up in Newport News and the park is REALLY great. I have only stayed at the campground once, but it was very nice. It's been years, so an updated review would be great!  Maybe I will drag the camper home for a visit sometime!
Thanks

THe last time we went to the Newport News Park, the bathroom facilities were horrible.  The toilets overflowed and haven't been cleaned in weeks.

Also, there was a lot of pooling water throughout the campground, and the mosquitos were awful.

koa in williamsburg is great . two campgrounds attached to each other . staff great.   program with sunshiners for kids, clean, and about three exits away from busch gardens, water country, and presidents park.
