Quote from: ScoobyDooAround here the cops won't waste any time over sombody stealing gas from YOU but if the clerk at Quick Trip reports a drive off they might get half a dozen cars involved in hi speed chase ending when the thief crashes into a dumptruck. Owner had to fix his own truck, but at least it wasn't a car load of kids.

They don't even really care about stolen vehicles either. When I called the cops to report my truck had just been stolen (i.e. within five minutes of my phone call), the dispatcher said a unit would be out in an hour or two. I said, by that time they'd have it in a chop shop already. He didn't even want to take the plate number until I made him. Fat lot of good that did because nothing was reported until after the cop showed up and we filled out the paperwork an hour and a half later.

Apparently stolen trucks rank up there with lost sunglasses. :-(

I like the story that went something like:

A guy hears some people in his garage stealing stuff, he calls the cops to report it and they say nobody is available and that they'll be there in a couple hours. He calls them back in a couple minutes to report that there was no hurry anymore because he'd shot all three thieves. Within a few minutes his lawn was crawling with the cops who caught three very live thieves in the garage red handed. The cop says to the owner "I thought you said you shot them" to which the owner replied "I thought you said nobody was available".

Don't know if it's true, but funny nonetheless.

Leif.

Yeah, I know.  It's fun to vent though.  :)
