We recently purchased a 1993 Jayco 1208.  My husband removed the old canvas today and the wood that the canvas runners are attached to is rotten on two sides.  We have ordered new canvas but it looks like before it is installed the wood must be replaced.  I would appreciate any ideas and advice.  Thanks.

I'm not familiar with how your roof is made.  Is it sheet aluminum on the outside and inside with particle board or plywood sandwiched in between?

If so, you may be able to get away with taking just that section of the roof apart, scraping the rotted wood off the aluminum, glue new wood to aluminum skin and screw it all back together.

Take a look at my albums - I did the same thing with my starcraft, and will have to do more later this fall....

I also had to replace roof sides on my previous vintage starcraft.  It's not difficult, just time consuming.

There are quite alot of people that have had to do this on many kinds of PUP's - if you look thru the albums of alot of folks on the camper sites, you will find lots of examples.  I learned alot from watching the experiences and photos of lots of PUP owners.

If I can help with any advice or tips, feel free to e-mail me.
