Quote from: 6QuigsI see they have a marina there as well, where we can rent a boat.

"17.5FT Bayliner 135HP 6 Passenger Maximum Capacity 885LBS $350 a day"

I have a 2 person tube, water skis, wakeboard I can bring along.
Any interested in sharing the cost of renting a boat for the day?
My understanding is that you can't use the drag along stuff. No part of the body can touch the water at any time. You might want to call them and double check. :D

OC Campers

I was looking at the water park and it looks like a lot of fun.   An all day pass was $17.  They also had a group rate of $15 if we had 15 or more people going but it looks like you would have to pre-buy all the tickets.  I wonder if we can pre-buy them the day before we are all going to go or do they want you to buy them weeks before.   They also may have a coupon available.  The one they are offering for this week is "if you buy 3 all day passes you get a 4th free"   For us with larger families, this would be a nice cost saver.

If you can't be in the lake and can only be in the boat, we would probably prefer to go in on the pontoon boat.

I just went on the web site and they rent all the water toys (water skiis, wake boards etc.)  Why would they rent them if you couldn't use them?

I just went there too :book: ......I must have been mistaken   .

I thought that when we went there last year, they told us that we couldn't use our "Sit-on-top" kayak because we might touch the water.... (Lake Lopez is a drinking water reservoir)

cjpoppin

They have the swim area don't they????

Looks like Wayne is having another senior moment ;)

We camped at Lake Lopez back in 2001 and we went swimming in the lake. They have a beach dedicated for swimming, with a lifeguard on duty, and marker bouys to keep boats out of the area. There was plenty of boating activity that day, with people on skis and tubing.

It must have been some other lake you were dreaming about Wavery. Lexington Resevoir near us is a drinking water lake, and no powered boats are allowed, but it is OK to kayak in it, as well as use a windsurfer. I took my hobie cat there often, as we sure touched the water plenty of times.

Swimming in the lake is OK.  No body contact rules in effect.  If you bring a boat or other water craft to the lake, including kayaks, it will have to pass inspection for the dreaded QUAGGA MUSSEL that have invaded other lakes in Southern Ca. and other bodies of water.

That $350 is just the cost of the boat rental. Gas is extra. last time I rented a boat, 2 years ago, I spent an additional $85 on gas, so figure an extra $100 to $125 or more on gas, depending on how much we use the boat, and if it is a lot of blasting around at full throttle, or just puttering around, taking the kids for tube rides.

Hey, we are up to 4 families interested so far. Maybe more will be interested, and we might need to rent a second boat!! Either way, I am defenitely renting a boat. My kids would spent the full day out on the water tubing, water ski-ing and wakeboarding if we let them. It just can get a tiring, being in the hot sun all day, and if the boat does not have a sun shade, keeping the kids covered in sunscreen if a full time job.

Kevin it seems like your boat will be full most of the time, I'm going to check to see if they have 2 of those boats...I'm thinking about the 5 hours for $200 plus $75 double tube rental

Recumbentman

Add our famiy to the list of renting a pontoon boat.

I don't mind being Captain, as a captain is only in charge of one boat.
It looks like we are going to have a fleet of boats, and need an Admiral :D

I have no problem keping track of who is interested,

Currently interested in the Ski boat we have:
   6Quigs 1+4
   Dee4j   1+2
   O C Campers 1+3
   Chez Way 2+2
   Hardees  2+4

And for the more relaxing pontoon boat
   Dee4j 1
   Cjpoppin 2 (pontoon captain)
   O C Camper 1
   Recumbentman 2

As the time gets closer we can decide exactly what to rent.
If someone wants to take the boat and the tube for an hour or more and have fun, or I am available to drive the boat while they have fun, or I can take your kids along while you relax and watch, possibly from the pontoon boat. My younger 2 boys will get bored quickly, so once they have had a spin, I can drop them off, and then have room for 3 or 4 more people.

We'll meet on the Thursday evening, by Dee's campfire, and work out the details and decide if we need to assign time slots or whatever.
