Can we have three potlucks!?
Yes, I was wondering about that, seeing as we are there for 4 nights.

So if we were to have 3 potlucks, that would be
1. Dinner Friday night,
2. Breakfast Saturday and
3. Dinner Saturday

Potlucks can be fun, but also a bit of work. I've seen some people spend all afternoon cleaning, peeling, chopping, slicing, simmering just to have  dish ready for us, and then someone else pick up their cell phone and order 4 pizzas to share.
So if we are having 2 dinner potlucks, how about half the people cook one day and the other half the cook the second day. You just need to double up on the food the day you cook, and the day off you are free to sit back, relax, have some wine and appetizers and be waited on.

If you enjoy cooking, then by all means cook both days, but with 28 families we would still have over 14 dishes to choose from both days?

Anyone think this is a good idea and worth trying.
If Dee back is still bad, she gets both days off!!

OC Campers

Hang in there Dee, we are sending you prayers right now.  Do you feel them?  Hopefully, you are in your "happy place" and getting some rest.   Let us know how things are progressing.

Kevin--As far as potlucks go, I am game for anything.  Just tell me when to cook and when to show up.  Either way, I have to cook so I will go along with whatever everyone else wants.

Looks like we are going to have quite a few people playing poker. I will bring my own chips and cards and Jeanne, please remind Jim to bring his chips since we are going to have two groups playing if the head count for a particular night exceeds eight which I think it will. We don't have to play every night. Normally we play just one night and possbily two.

We have a set of chips/cards in the camper too.  They need to be dusted off.

Quote from: Dee4jIn varying degrees of pain. Meds cut down pain and (for some reason) make her care less about being in pain. (Hmm...) She's half-snoozing at the moment.

As I expected her (lame) neurologist did NOT come to see her today so she is spending the night at the St. Joe Hilton. More news as it happens.

do you think they will get mad if I put spit wads on the ceiling?

Let me guess:
1. you have a 4-5 mm disc bulge at L4-5 or L5-S1 and other smaller bulges
in the lumbar spine;

2. you have radicular symptoms running from your lower back down your left
leg making it tingling and numb;

3. the MRI says that your disc is touching/pinching the spinal cord;

4. the epidural he gave you only gave you temporary relief;

5. they want to do surgery to fuse your discs; join discs with hardware;

6. and they want to clean out the spinal canal and discs;

Before you agree to have surgery you need to have second, third, and fourth opinions.

We will be including you in our prayers tonight, Dee.  And sending warm fuzzies and hugs your way....

Hey Dee,

We are keeping you in our prayers, also.  Sure will miss you if you don't come camping, but take care of yourself first.  There will be more camping trips.

Get well soon.

Dee,

 You are in our prayers! Think positive! After reading the latest results I would agree with Dave about more opinions!

 You know we would want you to come camping but if it meant more pain and agony and running the risk of more injury then sit this one out! Your health is more important.

 If it came to the decision of weather to stick to your original plan of looking at schools for kevin and then camping, I vote for just camping. Yes that was my out loud voice being greedy, for wanting you to come. But above all, get well!

 Maybe we should just descend on the hospital and sneak in your fire starter and have a campfire right there in the room! Playing poker till all hours and having wheelchair races down the hallways!

I'm sorry Dee about the bad news about your back.  When you were here, you didn't look too swell and you were hopeful that your DR would be able to make your pain more managable.  I'll keep you in my prayers.

Let me know if you want me to mail your shirts to you.

GET WELL!

Wow, Dee, I'm so sorry to hear that you're in so much pain.  We will keep you in prayer for the doctors to figure out what's wrong quickly and get you back on you feet and pain free.
I hope you will be able to camp, but your health comes first, so don't risk it.
Love and prayers to you and the fam.

Dee!!!  Get off the phone, I'm trying to call dammit

Dee listen to Dave he works for an insurance company and probabley sees this all the time. After 5 operations Heather is not any better in fact she is worse. All her bulging disc are in that same area that Dave has described, except she has three right now.
