I managed though...could NOT get one at Frontier Town, hoping beyond hope...Sara (Raymond's grandaughter), Raymond and I will be there (Ft. Whaley) Aug 10th thru the 13th if anyone is going to be intown...if anyone wants to camp that weekend...if there are any sites left.  I had to get this trip in for her by the 14th. maybe school starts then?????

I guess we will see you there.  We are going down on the 9th and staying until the 12th.  I believe we will be in E5 but I am not sure.  That will be great.  Don't worry, I will be bringing firewood also.

Good, we do not have any (fire wood) anymore. They did not tell me what site I was on, just that I had a water/electric.  We plan on keeping Sara busy.

They have a free bus to OC that I think we will take advantage of, parking there can be a bear.  And I know we will spend some time at Frontier Town at the water park, I LOVE lazy Rivers.  I have also been known to swallow my fear of heights and go down them slides...been a while though.

I also want to take her to Assateague to see the horses. Raymond has the Golden Age thingee and that allows us free admission to Federal parks, IF he is with us and he promises that he will be.

Sounds great. I just sent you nicole's and my cell numbers for when you get down there to give us a holler. Can't wait. Weather permitting, we will have a fire each night.  Don't forget, we have our Cotoc decal on our camper so you can look for us that way also.

I'll have the Bantam since the Cabin A will not hold 3 on a bet.  Looking forward to that weekend and Raymond is planing on staying.  That is a rare event when he stays the whole trip, but Sara has a special need so someone has to be with her all the time.

Paula:

I've never had a problem getting a site at Ft. Whaley. Of course we always go Thanksgiving weekend! There's a big craft show at the Convention Center that weekend, so we drop Josie at the Dog-tel on the way in. Terri goes to the craft show and Robby and I play miniature golf. Our traditional lunch is at the Greene Turtle. We've usually had good weather that time of year. Wouldn't go in August since I don't have AC.

BTW, I'm writing this from the Natural Bridge KOA off I-81 in VA...on our way to Campfire Lodgings north of Asheville for the rest of the week.

I actually got the last available site for Friday to Monday. I think many people (with children) are trying to get that last minute before school starts vacation in.

I actually like Greenbelt NP Thanksgiving week, it is quiet there and DC is also much much quieter that week since Congress is in recess.  If you have gas heat, then it is a great place, no electric, but hot showers.

Our Itenerary (and can change) not on any certain day...
a trip to Assateague for Sara to get a gander at the wild ponys, then onto Frontier town to do the water park for a while.
One day we will take the Ft. Whaley bus into OC and spend the day there, letting Sara do the beach while we watch from the board walk. Neither Raymond nor I are beach people. I like beachy areas, but I NEED shade since I have recurring skin cancers.

Well, we made it back and it was a blast.  Nice seeing you Paula and your hubby and nice also meeting Sara.  She is a great kid.  Alex really enjoyed being around her.

Thanks for doing the put-put with Sara.

Back is better (Raymond's Corolla and the seats on the Cape May=Lewes Ferry are NOT good for bad backs, BUT we did see dolphins on both trips!! Sara called her mom to tell her that she saw "Wild" Dolphin.

Yesterday (my last day) was a bummer from the get-go. I got up right after Sara and Raymond left and playing a game of where did they hid the TP this time...when I went back to bed, I laid on something hard (Groan) it was my nightmare, I layed on my glasses and broke one ear piece off my glasses, while trying to straighten the remaining one, well, it snapped off in my hand...great, blind and Raymond not there to help me find the glasses...it had evidently gotten knocked out of the shallow hanging basket during one of our potty trips in the middle of the night...oh the ails of an aging body...Raymond's not mine...

I searched for that spare pair of glasses I kept in the camper since I lost the pair in the little River at my frst Rally in TN...I think I moved them to the Cabin A...then I found the bungie thingee that my white water raft guide friend had given me when I went to see her at the Rally in Cherokee NC...that worked, sort of...broke down the site and then had a hard time getting the hitch to line up...them skewed glasses (at least this time I have a good excuse).

Two bad traffic Jams on Route 1 and almost home when I felt something odd, looked down to see a piece of rubber bouncing and a lady in a conversion van pointed to my trailer...yup, the tire that I had put on after the one I blew at the dump station at Watkin's Glenn three years ago...2 hours sitting on DE 1, after a call to Good Samm, and I was back on the road...I LOVE Good Sam Club.

I took a sick day, got an eye exam (last one was in 2005) and glasses and a new spare has been ordered...yeaaaaaa!

Well, at least you made it back safe and sound even if sore and run down.
