Quote from: dkutzReserve america opened today for february.  We got a site at san elijo state beach, just north of Del mar.  We have site 22 for feb 15th - 18th.

If any SCCampers would like to join us there are some hook up sites left, and many "dry" sites. (water not booze!)

If you have never been there, its a great place right on the beach, close to many nice palces to eat and shop.  Clean Bathrooms and coin op showers,a dn good bike riding for the kids.

Come on down!

Hello!  I am a new member and would love to go to San Elijo in Feb.  Is it still on? I plan on calling to see if any sites are still avil. and if so I wll make a reservation.   My group includes myself, husband, son and grandaughter.

Hello and WELCOME TO PUT!!!
We'd sure love to have you but that is a pretty popular CG and it's been full (on those dates) for some time. You might try giving ReserveAmerica a call but my understanding is that the phone center now has the exact same info that we have on-line.

Hey Dieter and Wayne,

Have a great time at San Elijo this weekend. We'll miss you and will raise a cactus cooler in your absentia! :!

Super--I hope we'll get to meet you at a future rally. We're not nearly as crazy as we seem on these boards and are twice as much fun in person! :J

Boy........what a great CG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I only wish that we could have stayed longer. I hurt my back and we had to leave early.

Dkutz made a great Apple Crisp in the DO.......yum-yum.

We also got to meet a new family (Super) from Lancaster....Nice people. I hope they make more camp-outs with us. :sombraro:

For those of you that may have been concerned about the size of the campsites at San Elijo, check out my webshots:

There are a few smaller sites but most of them are like the one we were in. It measured 30' x 45'. Most of the ocean view sites were 45' x 60'. They are huge but dry camping. The view is unbelievable.

There is an Amtrak train that comes by 5 or 6 times a day (at 80MPH). He blows his horn a few times but it's no big deal. I think that the last train was around mid-night.

The bathrooms and showers were the cleanest that I have seen in SoCal Parks.

I hope that we can have another rally soon. I'm going to try to get a site or 2 in Sept.....for sure. We loved the place.

Wayne I am glad you had fun.  We love that campground, it is the first time with the tailer.  Although our spot was small we still had a GREAT time.  The kids love playing on the beach and riding the bikes around.  I would choose it over San Mateo any day.

We may have to try Dry camping to get one of the water side spots, or get lucky and hope to get a hookup water side spot.  Either way, my wife is already talking about the next trip.

As for the DO apple crisp, glad you liked.  I have to start looking for a smaller oven for desserts I guess, it didn't crisp too well.

I think that the site that you had was the smallest one in the CG.....It almost looked like and after thought...... <Hey look George, we could squeeze in another site there> :p

Why not   That space is 30' wide and 45' long. Your trailer is only 8' + awning = 15' and it sure isn't 45' long. That leaves a whole lot of play area and space for your TV. The guy next to us (same size space) had a big TT and he parked his TV in front of it.

I think that you may be confused because I had my trailer turned sideways across the front of the space, which made a real nice secluded spot.

This shot is from the road looking towards the campsite (remember our PU is sideways in the spot):

This shot is from the back of the spot looking toward the road, our TV is on the other side of the PU. Thre is about 10' from the back of the PU to the road.

YEah Wayne your right my space was small, but thas what you get when the DW does the reservations.  But seriously I think that it was the only hook up site left.  It worked out ok, because it was close to the bathroom, we didn't have to worry about losing the kids!

I will post pics when I can..

And Dee, maybe we should consider glasses to go with the Knitting Needle, some of those spaces are HUGE!  If you can't fit your trailer in there, then you need another Drink :sombraro:

Dee, the avg site at Newport Dunes is about 20' x 40' (800 sq ft). The avg site at San Elijo is about 30' x 45' (1350 sq ft), nearly double.

Here's a pic of a typical Newport site, you can't compare them:

yes you are right, your trailer being side ways confused me. 30' wide is ok. I JUST fit at Newport.  trailer+ awning is 15 ft + bed (4ft)=19ft

HUH?  You like less space?  Wayne said most sites are BIGGER than Newport...or by FIT do you mean the wine and caviar crowd?
