We spent the weekend at the Luray Jellystone Campground and had a very good time.

Kids are EVERYWHERE in this park, as they should be.  They were well behaved and we didn't have a problem with any of them.  The adults were another story.  Maybe they were just tired and hot, but most of them were grumpy, and many of them were just plain stupid.  I sat there and watched one guy cook breakfast over a fire, constantly dousing the fire with citronella oil to raise the flame high enough to cook his food, all the while with kids and a toddler running around the fire.  I'm amazed they didn't get poisoned or burned.  I wanted to stop him, but he didn't look like the kind of guy that takes that kind of advice well, and I learned long ago to stay out of that sort of thing.

Anyways....

The Good:
----------
- Nice looking park
- Great Pool and waterslides.
- Excellent camp store
- Comfortable in the shade, even at 95 degrees
- Cars/Trucks were very well behaved - drove slowly
- Rangers were always helpful.
- Great place to tent - some tenters got nice covered porches to use.
- The Park was SILENT after 11pm (official quiet time).   Not even a dog bark, which I was surprised about because every other site had a dog or two on it.

The Bad:
---------
- Cleaning staff not keeping up with restrooms.  They were filthy.  Only three sets of shower stalls in the two facilities, so there was a long wait for showers.
- Poorly kept sites.  Trash everywhere.  Not raked, no gravel, so we tracked in wet leaves everytime we went inside.  We left it in much better condition than when we arrived
- Golf carts flying around everywhere.  If they rent them, and the speed limit is 5mph, the card should be limited electronically to 5mph.  Or walk.
- Why would a kid-oriented campground sell beer/liquor in their camp store??????
- Mini-Golf course was a little long in the tooth.
- People aren't cleaning up after their dogs.  We had to play dodgeturd while walking through the grassy area.
