Estone

Thank you everyone for your support.  Here is an update re:  Christinas parents.

"Dear Friends:
Aphrodite, Cynthia and I really appreciate all of your
prayers and good wishes. We  are all in White Bear
Lake, Minnesota a suburb about 30 miles north of
Minneapolis,MN staying at Lisa & Bill's house. Lisa is
also is our God daughter. She has been absolutely
terrific in her  search for Chrsitina who is still
missing. They haven't found her car either.

Lisa has been dealing with the Sheriff, Police,
Volunteers, Red Cross personnel and a host of helpers
since the day after the Bridge's collapse. She has
been our Angel. Aphrodite came in last Sunday morning
and Cynthia and I arrived here Monday night. We have
met with the Mayor, the Sheriff, the NTSB, the FBI, snd
yerdy withe the Governor and his wife.  The sheriff's
office picked us up at the airport and drove us to the
meeting center where most the famiies with injured an
our missing families meet with an entire staff of the
above represenatives once or twice each day giving us
all the updated information of all of their
activities.
This also includes Priests and Police Chaplains each
day.

We personally spent about 30 minutes with the Governor
& his wife to discuss their fine, courageous and
consistent efforts to help us all after the main
presentation by all of the above people finished their
respective presentations.

We we are all warmed and enheartened by the dedication
and real love shown by all involved. We all talked
with others who had loved ones missing. In our entire
lifetime we have never exerienced so much love and
understanding from so many people.  It is indeed a
blessing.

We want to thank the many people from our Parish
who have called us with their prayers, love, offers of
help, etc. It is indeed an extraordinary  blessing to
us. May God bless you and your entire family. We do
not know when we  will return to California but
anticpate it may be several more weeks.

Yours in Christ,

Nick, Aphrodite & Cynthia Sacorafas"

I guess I have to resign myself that she is probably not alive.  I have not let myself think that way  up to now.

I really appreciate everyone here and your thoughts and prayers.  I still cannot fathom it.

I am so sorry.

I have been praying for two specific things; that those close to Chrsitina could accept what God has for them, and that the news would not be long delayed in coming.  Not all who disappear into the Mississippi are found, and my prayers are that all would be (and should be) this time.

The family of 2-year-old Hanah Salah got word today.  Her mother is still missing.  The family of Peter Joseph Hausmann also got word.

Update (Friday AM): The information this morning on what remains were found is confusing and does not square with the story linked above.

Remains were found in two more cars yesterday.  One of the remains has not been identified (or identity not released).  Three people remain missing, including Christine Sacorafas.  I know waiting can be terrible at times like this, and pray that the waiting would end soon.

I would ask that others continue to pray as well; there are a number of scenarios where the Mississippi would not release remains, which leaves the family hanging for a long time and never really coming to the point where you know.

Hello all,

Thank you all for your prayers.  We have received word this morning from the Sacorafas family that their beloved Christina has been found.  She was inside of her car that was pinned underneath the bridge.  Navy Divers spent a lot of time breaking the car free.  I can't imagine what that was like her last minutes.  I only hope and pray that her death was immediate.

Thank you again for all of your support.

I think that you can rest assured that she did not suffer. Even if she was conscious for the very few seconds that it took for the bridge to fall, the confusion and shock would have taken over immediately. God has blessed the human brain with mechanisms that kick in place in times of severe trauma. I'm sure that she was never aware of what was happening to her or of any pain.

I lost my mother in a horrific auto accident. I know very well how tormenting the thoughts of a loved one's last moments can be. I have come to learn over the years that God has a loving way to deal with all that.

She was healed immediately.....now it is time for the loved ones to start healing. Grief is a part of life and their are lessons to be learned in our grief. Take the time to grieve and heal yourself, as you should.

Estelle,
We also want to give you our prayers and comfort you in knowing that God has her in his hands. Never forget the good times you both had.

What Wayne is saying is true.  I have read many accounts of people who endured severe trauma, and during the incident felt no pain or panic.

Our prayers will continue for you her family, and her other friends.
