Again only one out of the 5 parks in Yellowstone do not allow tents or tent campers. It's not a snob thing it's a high bear activity area.
As for anywhere else just ask the local rangers. They deal with the bears and other varmits all the tim and have the correct advice of what you have to do.

This rumor continues to "pop-up" on various camping forums.

Of all the discussion and research I have done, I have found ONLY ONE campground that restricts popups or tents and that is the aforementioned Fishing Bridge campground in Yellowstone NP.

Understand that there are TWELVE campgrounds inside Yellowstone, and only one is hard side trailer only.

I have not had any verified reports of ANY OTHER campground in the USA that restricts popups due to bears.

(of course there exists high-end snobby private RV parks that don't allow lowly popups - but that is for an entirely different reason)

HOWEVER - camping in bear country in a tent or popup does require some precautions.   The way to avoid bear visits is not to keep food in the popup.

I've backpacked in many bear areas in N America. Seen lots of bears and never felt threatened. This was on foot in a nylon tent or tarp or hammock. Once I had 3 bears fighting over my food bag, that was 15 ft up in a tree. But I never felt threatened. If you take proper precaution you do not have to worry, you should feel lucky if you see one. I also camped in the campgrounds in Yellowstone and never seen a bear in camp. I have had elk, coyotes, and rowdy campers run threw camp, but no bear. I think Yellowstone's restritions in one camp are not about bears but about something else. They are pretty strict with their bear regulations and really don't have much of a problem. It's just easier to blame the bears........shredder
