The family and I love wheeling and camping. You responded to my post on starting a get together a while back. I have not had much feedback , but we can sure get together . We just bought a new tow / trail rig and need to stretch its legs , when and where would you like to go.

Funrover

Yes..... LOL     I just came back from the Ouray/Telluride/ Montrose area  I am currently doing some work on the camper but am thinking of the FtCollins or Bueana Vista area over labor day!

I'm jealous ! Ouray/Telluride are spectaculsr areas , we want to go to that area  and do Schofield Pass. What kind of wheeling do you have in mind , the new truck is set up for moderate trails now , but I have the old rig and it's locked with winch. I don't know about Labor day my wife mentioned her having to work possibly. If we can you can count us in.

I really want to do Schofield also.... I hear they are dozing it to make it easy no.. I am bummed. Oh Well!!  Ouray/Telluride is AWSOME!!! Let me know if you are up for it.

Not real sure on trails yet... More than likely I will not have my camper ready in time (lift mech needs repaired currently)! We generaly run trails depending on who show up with what type of rig!!   What are your thoughts?  if you go to //www.traildamage.com look around in the Bueana Vista area see what you think (Except for Old Chinamens Gultch... I am getting kinda tired of doing that trail). What Trails have you done? If you are locked up etc that is awsome  I am no where near that,, but a few of my friends are.

Trails I have run:
Holy Cross
Wheeler Lake
Eagle Rock
China Wall
Old Chinamens Gultch
Saran Wrap
Black Bear Pass
Imogene Pass
McCallister Gultch
Needles Eye
Rollins east/west
Lamertine Mine
Spring Creek
Webster Pass
Redcone
Weston Pass
Sevenmile Road
Mt.Baldy
I am forgeting a few...... but should give you an idea.

:eyecrazy: Before we moved from the Colo Spgs area we did the following.
Blanca , China Wall , 2 mile , Metberry , Hacket Gulch , Long Water , & Devil Mtn area ( Pagosa Sprgs area ). After moving we have not been as active but have done the following . Jones Pass , Holy Cross , Wheeler Lake , Bill Moore Lake , & Spring Creek. It's to bad about Schofield , I did not hear that they were doing that. We really enjoy Wheeler Lake and the surrounding area. I don't plan on going crazy on the new truck , we just want to set it up for moderate use. Our wheeling rig is also used as a commuter vehicle so I only locked the rear using a Locrite locker.

What did you think of Blanca?  I am really wanting to give that one a try!

Also the camping weekend if you can go... not sure on if we are doing free camping or net yet.. Is that a problem for you?

No problem at all . Blanca is a must do , I would like to go again and try it in fall or winter. Off camber sections , loose rock , hot and crowded in summer. Jaws 1 you either go over the boulder or skirt around the edge on the cliff side. We skirted it because when we tried to go over it  it felt like we were going to roll it.
Jaws 2 you need no wheel spin or your rear end will slide toward the cliff edge , so just a little throttle to bump over the rock ledge. ( Torque is you friend on 2  )
Jaws 3 is steep and leans toward the wall , also loose but traction can be had. It has been over 8 years since we went , so we are ready for another trip.

P.S. We have also done Independance trail up by Canon City. ( Very Tough )
Wheeler Lake is are favorite , we would like to try 21road in Grand Juction.
What kind of camper do you have ? We have a Colman Rio-Grande but want to get the X3 , I think thats what they call it. ( The big off-road one )
