Quote from: MJohnYou know this is one of those things I hope to get to see one day before I'm gone. Even though I've seen it on tv this personal pic makes it even more realistic. Thanks for sharing!

I grew up in SD.  I've been to Rushmore many, many times.  You can't really explain it to people.  You have to go and see it.  You need to go see it in the day and go to a night time lighting of it as well.  It is two very different experiences.  While you are there you can go over and see Crazy Horse as well.  Crazy horse is so big you could fit Rushmore and Stone Mountain GA in the space between his arm and the back of the horse.  He is way big.  Only in America do men dream of and actually carve mountains.  God Bless America and the men who make and keep her!

I've been neglecting this thread for awhile. In May my DW and I spent a week camping around Gatlinburg. Here's a couple of shots from that trip.

First, the Smoky Bear Campground entrance:

Ok, why can't I attach a picture? It seemed as though it wanted to attach the whole file and not just the single image so I moved it to it's own file and still I get nothing when I hit "Attach File". What am I doing wrong?

Go open a //www.photobucket.com account.

Upload large photos to your album.  Once those are uploaded, photobucket will give you several windows with urls in them.  Select the one that says something like "img" url and that will give you the code that works on our message forum:

It will look like this:  "img   http://www.photobuckblahblahblah.com  /img"  but won't have the quotation marks of course, and where the "img" word is, you put the [ and ] around it.

You copy and past that all here and then when you post you thread, you'll get your photo.....full size like you see people have posted just above.

"What does this have to do with camping?" you ask. Well, we're leaving tomorrow morning to go camping with them.

Aaahhh.......fantastic photo.  Have a great trip!

Thank you, Austinado16 for your kind words. We are kind of partial to the girls. Here are a few photos from the camping trip. We were at Turkey Run State Park in Western Indiana. I took these pictures Friday before the big storm hit. The campgrounds lost power for about 28 hours; a pop-up about 200 yards down from us had a tree fall on it, and several trucks had trees fall on them. Overall, other than a few minor inconveniences, we made it through OK.

Here is the campsite before the storm. After the storm, the camper was sitting in about 4" of water:

Our oldest granddaughter loves to camp. She has her own camping chair:

The newest granddaughter seems to be enjoying the experience, too:

I hope some others will join in the picture posting.

There are some amazing photos in this thread.  Here is one from Rocky Mountain National Park.  This is Moraine Valley.  One of my favorite CG is Moraine Park CG in RMNP

Shepherd, that is a great photo. Thanks for helping keep this thread alive. Your comment about the quality of the pictures here caused me to review them from the 1st page again. You're absolutely right- there are a LOT of great pictures here. I see from you www site that you are an accomplished photographer. I hope to see more of your work here. Russinator started this thread about a year ago. I haven't seen any of his posts here since January. Maybe he's away on another of his amazing adventures that he has shared pictures from.

This photo thread is WONDERFUL. I have to just dream about most of these beautiful places for the time being. Maybe after retirement we will get to travel to a few of them. Meanwhile, I'm traveling with your photos from my chair.
