I hope you all enjoyed viewing them.

Russ,

Have you ever thought of being a photojournalist if you aren't one already? Those pictures tell a story and stir emotions, just what a good photo is supposed to do. Great work.

Hello AZsix. Thanks for the kind words.

I retired from the fire department 11 years ago and never plan on doing anything ever again that results in a paycheck. I figure that there are too many people out there that need to work. I don't want to take a job away from any of those folks.

Well that explains all the pictures of the fires. It's obvious from your photos that you take your picture taking seriously. I for one really appreciate you sharing them with us.

AZsix, thanks for the kind words. Maybe you and others can add pictures?

Here's one I took i the Big Sur section of California. Sadly there was a haze, as you can see looking at the ocean.

A photo of me out exploring the family's old mining claim near the 395/14 junction.

I have a webpage as well with more photos.  As an aside, there's a nice remote campsite there as well...  :)

A few pictures of my trip to the Pacific Northwest last year. These were a week before the big storms during the Thanksgiving week last year. The pictures are too big to post. Does anyone know how I can resize them so I can post them?

Microsoft has a free resizer. It's called ImageResizerPowerToy. You can probably find a link by googling on it. Once downloaded (my version is 521k), just run the exe file and you've got it. To use it, you just highlight the files you want to resize (in Explorer) and right click. You'll see a new option has been added to the menu titled 'resize files'. Choose your options and run it. You'll have a new set of files but much smaller. By default it makes copies of the originals but you can choose to have it resize the originals also.

If you cant find it, email me and I'll send you the file.

Good luck.

While this isn't the prettiest picture in the thread, it is the most up to date.  This is what me and the family woke up to this morning in Idyllwild!!!   :)

We took a hike in the smoky Mountains of Tennessee. We ended up at this wonderful waterfall.

Russ, so happy to see people posting pictures (alliteration?) here again. Was that the Abrams Falls in the Cades Cove area? We were there last May and shot this picture:

There is so much to see and photograph in the Smoky's.
