I'm trading in my 2003 Rockwood 1980 pup for a new Flagstaff 625D.
I've been camping in PUPs for 15 years now, but never had a slideout.
Are there any problems to watch for, or special tricks to keeping it working correctly?  I hope to pick up the new pup next week.

I'm a recently new pup w/slideout owner.  So far the only thing I'm quite careful about is the tenting when I slide it in.  Then,  I pull the tenting outward so when I slide the bunks in there's no chance of the bed rail will catch and tear on the slide out canvas or windows.  After both bunks are pushed in (rear bunk first) I go back out and carefully lay the tenting over the bunks.

Hope this helps.

Thanks, CC.  Makes sense to me.
Have you had any problems with leakage around the hard shell of the slideout?

I have never had a leak.  Of course I bought the trailer second hand and when I got it I put new seals around the opening because the old ones were no good.

Make sure you put the slide out in first before the beds and DEFINETELY pull the tenting out of the way!

You will LOVE the extra room that the slide gives you!

I have a Coleman Utah with slide out dinette, it is the first PUP we have had. I wanted to make sure we would not outgrow ours too soon. It is great and very easy to set up and take down.

1) Always put your slide in prior to putting the bunks in
2)be sure once slid in that all of the material is pulled out and not interferring with the rails that the bunks slide on.
3) I like to un snap the material from the sides of the slideout and actually pull the material from the sides up above the top edge prior to sliding in

Thats it enjoy the extra room. We had some visitors come by last time we were out and 4 people sat at the table and we had 4 others in the camper and all were comfortable.

You'll never go back to a popup without a slideout after you've owned one. Just my 2 cents.

One of the reasons we picked the Niagra was the slide out side.
We love it!

You don't have to climb over or around a table.

I've not had a problem with leakage and we had torrential downpours for several nights in South Carolina...so loud we couldn't hear the air conditioning over the pounding of the rain!

THAT is loud!  LOL

all of my campers have/had slides, as it was stated check the edges while opening and closing, also every once in a while, clean the tracks/rollers and grease them.we do it at the end of season, get the grit out.

Thanks to all who replied.  I'm feeling a little more relaxed now.

we have 07 Utah with slide out and we have had it leak water during a really bad rain storm. Just something to watch for during a bad storm. We dried it up and resealed the flap outside and it quit leaking. Good luck with your new pop up. We just love ours!!

I have a 2006 Flagstaff 625D and the only problem was when I forgot to install the pins to be sure it stays out, it moved a little in and out and the velcro popped open. This allowed bees to enter when we were eating. When we noticed what happened and eliminated the bees we all said that won't happen again! You will also love the extra storage the slideout provides.
