install a/c on 1995 coleman rio grande

Looking for some advise on how to install a carrier airv a/c unit on my 1995 coleman rio grande.  The camper has a center strip on the camper top. Do I need to cut a section out so the top unit sits flat?  Also, as far as the wiring, should I just purchase a a/c wiring kit from my local rv supply store and plug it in instead of hard wiring? If I go with the wiring kit, do I plug it in the outlet under the table or in the outlet near the front.  Any and all help is appreciated.
