We are shopping for a new Fleetwood - probably a Santa Fe or Sea Pine.  Does anyone have experience with any of the central Florida dealers?  We have a great local dealer but they are too small to really be price competitive.  (About $2500 more than PECO)  We've even considered the 8 hour drive to PECO but are concerned about any service issues and being so far away.

Also, any feedback on the Sea Pine or Santa Fe?  We also like the Westlake but are concerned about the open length of almost 25' fitting in a camping spot comfortably.

Thanks!

Thanks Limejeep.  We actually went there today!  They had two or three Starcraft Pop-up's but that was all.  They did seem very friendly.

DP have you requested a quote fro PECO including what the camper was equipped with and taken it to the local dealer to see if they would match the price?
And more important would they do warranty work on a camper bought some where else (and don't ask that question until you are sure they won't deal on price anywhere close to PECO's).
This thread also remnded me to check Fleetwood's dealer locator as the large local dealer drop the folding trialers like a hot rock last year to to the roof, panel, trunk, and other warranty issues. At times they had 5-6 trailers backed up waiting for roofs or other ABS panel/trunk repairs and got casught with a couple when the unwritten warranty thing hit.
Well there's a new dealer even closer and I'm going to check out to see if they are a dealer in name only or a stocking dealer.

Thanks Mike.  The local dealer actually told me that his cost is higher than what PECO has posted.  There is a large dealer about an hour away that sells a lot of large RV's.  They didn't seem to have much patience answering my questions but are much more price competitive.  I checked the local BBB and they only have had 3 complaints in the last three years, 2 of which were resolved.  I think I may just try a different salesperson that I feel more comfortable with.  I think he would have spent more time if DH were there!

We were in the same situation a few months back when we bought our Westlake. We went to an Orlando area Fleetwood dealer and got a price. When I got home I did a search and found Peco and requested a quote. Their price was about $2500 less and included thr RVQ and 12v package, which were not included locally. I asked the local dealer if they could match the Peco price and they stated the best they could do was still $700 higher than Peco and still did not include the RVQ or 12v package. Considering the price of fuel to go up to Peco I probably would have bought locally. The deciding factor for us was we had a trip already planned to go to Stone Mountain, which is only a few miles from Peco so fuel was not an issue. We decided that we would stop at Peco while on vacation, and if their price was EXACTLY (no add ons) what they had indicated we would buy there. Well it was, $8795 for the popup +$695 for the 15,500 btu A/C, period, zero additional costs (of course we had to pay tax and title when we registered back in Florida). I did also spring for having a brake controller installed in my Jeep, another $175. I should also mention that I was very pleased with the sales staff at both dealers.

Good Luck!!

Keith, thanks so much!  The Westlake is the other model we are considering.  I think it's perfect.  DH is concerned about the open length fitting comfortably in a campsite.  What has been your experience with that?

Thanks!

The open length of the Westlake, 24', is not an issue. For us the closed size was important. Due to our local ordinances we had to be able to fit the trailer in our garage. At campsites even a small travel trailer of 18' has an actual length of about 24' when you consider how far the hitch frame extends beyond the end of the trailer.

Leisure Time was the local dealer. When we went to Stone Mountain we stopped at Peco on a Thursday morning. Purchase paperwork took about 1 hour. They called later in the day to say everything was approved. We went back Friday afternoon for a demo session where they show you how things work, this is when the electronic brake controller (I do recommend this) was installed in the Jeep as well, it took about 1.5 hours.

I have a class III hitch. With the Jeep's stock tires (245 75 r16) towing the trailer is OK, although the extra weight is apparent going up hill. I don't think I would want to try to go through the mountains with my off road tires (315 75 r16). I thought I'd mention that since you have a 4Runner and if it has oversized tires it may effect your towing.

Thanks so much.  We have the same ordinances.  Will have to park it behind a privacy fence or in the garage.

We live in Pensacola, FL and decided to make the approx. 6 hour trip to Peco to buy our Sea Pine in Feb.  Combined the trip with a visit to Stone Mountain.  It was a lot cheaper than anything locally.  We loved Peco and also love our Sea Pine.  It is a perfect size, big enough but not too big and a breeze to tow.  We have camped in it about 15-20 nights already and have had no problems whatsoever (including the in the torrential rains and heavy wind.)  Good Luck and Happy Camping!   :p

Peco has the best prices. All warranty work is backed by a Fleetwood
dealer in any state. Lots of people buy and move to another state and have to find a local Fleetwood dealer for warranty work.
You might want to check and see if you would have to pay a extra TAX
to Florida for bring it from Georgia to Florida. It will have to be titled in Georgia first and transfered to Florida. Just something to check out.
Happy Camping

we purchased a 07 utah cp this past spring. we got a price from Leisure time in central florida and peco. i negotiated with leisure time and they sold us the utah for  400.00 over the peco price. it was worth it didnt have to make the trip to atlanta. We love the utah and leisure time was easy to deal with.  Rv sales are down do to the economy so you should be able to really negotiate a deal.good luck and happy camping.
