I bought a Coleman Taos used and it did not come with the instruction book on lightinng the furnace. I downloaded the owners manual but there is no section on the furnace. Any help would be greatful.

If it's the same as the furnace in my Bayside, there's really no lighting involved.  Just turn on the switch on top of the thermostat and set the temperature.

Try to find a brand for the furnace- should be either on the grille or behind the grille on an id tag.  Different popup manufacturers used different units.  My original Atwood furnace had to be lit by hand before use but was replaced by the seller when it was determined it leaked large amounts of CO. The new atwood is electronically ignited.  Atwood's site is http://www.atwoodmobile.com/Products/furnace/default.cfm

Mine is the everest star 7900 which is identical appearance wise to the one it replaced.

Depending on the year, most Coleman Taos's didn't come with a furnace, so there is a good chance it was added.  Depending on model, your furnace may work completely differently from what I wrote below.

On our Coleman Bayside, there are two switches that have to be on.  The first is no the face of the furnace.  I can just barely get it on with a screwdriver without taking the cover off.  If you don't ake the cover off, you may have a hard time even finding the switch...if you have one.

The other switch is on the thermostat.  Our thermostat has the switch on the underside (others may have the switch on the side or top).  It does not turn on or off easily.

With both of those switches on, set the thermostat and wait.

It may take 15 seconds before the fan turns on.  The fan runs for 10 seconds or so before the gas turns on.  This is a safety feature; the furnace could start a fire if the fan is not running, so it has a sail fin with a switch to make sure there is enough 12 volt power and to make sure the fan is actually working before lighting.

The furnace will light itself.  You may hear it clicking 5-6 times.  It will try to light three times before giving up and shutting down.  If it does light, you will hear a low frequency rumble, and after about 10 seconds the fan output will start to warm.

The fan continues to run for 30 seconds or so after the burner turns off to cool everything.

Thanks for the replies. The 5 amp switch was stuck, once that was fixed it worked just like you all said. Thanks again for quick the replies.
