Do I really need a shower and toilet or would a portable shower and cassette toilet work?

Thanks

That my friend is a personal choice, it depends on your needs and wants. Some folks prefer to have a shower and toilet in their pop up and are glad they have them. I on the other hand don't have a need for either in my pop up and have chosen to go the portable toilet and portable shower route that we set up outdoors and really only use the shower when dry camping and showers are not available. You will have to take a poll with your family and decide what they are willing to do with or without. Bottom line is NO you don't have to have them in your pop up, it's a personal choice.

Tough question, ask 10 people and you will get 10 answers. Here is my 2 cents. My origional goal was to have both. The mor I looked my priorities changed. Take a good look at where you plan to camp and what your personal prefs are. I don't dry camp and no primitive. KOA and Fort Wilderness are on the top of my camping list. Provided bathrooms are more than adequate. Take a good look at what you want to use the inside for. I have 2 girls and tag alongs are always welcome. we are big game players so I wanted ample space inside for hanging out. A slide out dinette in my opinion should be a high priority. Also how long you plan to camp I do 3 to 5 days typically 4. I can put up with public restrooms for a few days

I would like a bathroom but I am not real happy with the whole PUP bathroom set up. Eventually I will step up to a larger camper and I will put the bath in it. Good luck the more you look the easier it will be to make a decision. I spent a couple months looking at different models until thinking that they would all accomodate my needs until I saw the one I finally decided on.

I don't have either.

To me, having the potty in the camper is too much like dumping in the kitchen...just repulsive to me.

The showers are a bit too crowded for someone as big as me.

It is very rare that the campground facilities are bad enough to make me regret not having one or the other.

Austin, I'm with you 100%.

What CajunCamper sez .... it's a personal choice.

I don't have either (any?) ... no toilet and no shower in the PU.  We usually camp at state/regional parks and have found the bath houses work just fine.  I can count on one hand the number of times anybody has woken me up during the night to go to the bathroom ... and isn't showering an optional activity while camping?  ;)  (okay I have a shower adapter for the CHWOD and use that if necessary)

We dont have either one in our PU. We have a pota potty we take if we dry camp , other wise we use the public restrooms and showers. I would think having a shower in a PU would be messy, my opinion........Ed C.

We also have a porta-potty in the camper. My wife and I have no problem with it and it doesn't smell if you keep chemicals in it.

If we have company when we camp, we have a shower tent that we set up and put the porta-potty in that. It works well for us. The shower tent is a great set-up. I prefer it to public showers, although we take a military shower in it to conserve water. :sombraro:

We have porty potti we keep in screenroom for kids.

Porta-pottyfor my children only. The rest of us use the facilities at the campground. The showers in PU are small and would drive me nuts having to continuously fill the fresh water tank.

We have both the cassette potty and a built-in shower in our PopUp.  No, it's not at all messy.  All the "mess" is contained by the included contraption called the "shower curtain", and it runs down the drain.;)  If you use the proper chemicals and regularly clean the shower, (like at home), it's not smelly or dirty.

No, you don't need to have either a potty or shower in your PopUp.  However, it sure is convenient! :D

We have a PP/TP and a port-a-potti. Don't always set them up though. It depends upon how close we are to the toilet facilities or how nasty the facilities are. See my post  on Tar Hollow State Park. You can see the PP/TP set up in the left foreground in this Photo

Having young kids, the shower & cassette toilet are a Must Have! Besides I write off the interest as a second home.

We have both. Portables would work but... prefrence is the key.

I like having the casette for those late night runs , but a porta potti would do the same. Either way we like having our own pot to do what ever in .
The shower only gets used once in a while. In the 7 + yrs we've had the camper the showers been used a small handfull of times. I will admit when it's hot and 100% humidity and we're plugged in with the AC going, it's nice to shower and not feel sticky right away. so I guess it all boils down to choice..and if you're plugged in or not..:)
