Any experience with Palominos?

I've found one at a decent price, but don't know much about them.  I never had one or knew anybody who did.

Dave, our fearless leader and owner-publisher of Pop-Up-Times magazine, owned and used a Palomino for several years.

I had a '94 Palomino Stallion for 8 months in '97, until it got stolen. I really enjoyed that PUP and had no problems with it, at least that were its fault. I left a stabilizer jack down once and bent it on the way home. But that was my fault. My Dad also didn't unclip a roof latch one time and when I went to raise the roof, it bent the lift rod support bracket underneath that corner before I noticed it wasn't raising right. That was also my fault, because it was his first time ever being around a PUP, and I should not have taken his word for it that the latch was undone.

My parents now have a '97 Palomino Filly and really enjoy it. They haven't had any problems with it, either. They don't camp much to really put wear and tear on it, but it serves them well.

I'd buy another Palomino if I was in the market and the right unit came along for sale.

What model and year? I've had mine for about 4 years now, and with the exception of a new roof vent(not my fault) and new tires, have had very little work done to it.

My unit is a 12 ft. box, with the folding hard side walls, and weighs in about 2200 lbs. I don't need or use any sway control or weight distribution hitch, but I tow with an Explorer or an F-150. Most older Pals can not take WDH or sway control, due to the C-channel frame. The newer ones may, check the owners manual/dealer.
