Coleman pop-up roof stuck up

I have good news.  I was able to free up the whiffle tree and get the top down.  I grabbed the coupler with a pair of channel lock pliers and with a lot of force I was able to turn the whiffle tree in the down directon.  There was dirt and debris in the threads of the screw which I cleaned up and now the whiffle tree turns easily and smoothly.

I still have one remaining problem.  When I now try to crank the roof up, the top goes up but there is no ratcheting sound and no force to hold the roof up.  In other words, if I crank the roof up say six inches there is no real force to hold it in that position.  The crank handle will just easily turn in the down direction and drop the roof back down.

Is there something I can do to reset the ratcheting mechanism in the crank or should I just be happy I was able to get the top down and drive the camper to the dealer for repair?  Any more suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

Your new problem is an easy one to fix.  Crank the top up all the way and then give it an extra shove.  You will feel it give and then the clicking should be back.  This information is in your owners manual.  The over cranking is just a slight over cranking.  The handle will barely move, but you will feel it.:)
