Just a few note to clarify my situation.
After doing a fair amount of research I have found that both Kipor and Honda do basically have the same db ratings. Both 2000 watt units produce 54 db of noise at quarter load, both produce 59 at 3/4s.
What was an issue is really not anymore, thanks to you.  I will tuck the generator away in the woods, away from the neighbours and lakefront.
Pricing for me was the other major concern. Up here in Canada, I can purchase a new Honda eu2000 for 1800 taxes in. The same model in Kipor is just over 1100.
I know .. Kipor may not be a Honda .. and vise versa, but a 700 dollar savings is a little hard to pass up.

WOW!!! That is Quite a difference :yikes: . I found the Kipor online for US $900 and can buy the Honda for US $980. With the #s that you are talking about, I would do the same.

Have you considered solar power?

Yep .. I know the prices are a bit out of wack up here.  I have even considered buying a used Honda, but no-one will will go below 1400. bucks and once they go up for sale at that price they are grabbed in secounds.
I have even thought about buying through ebay - as the prices are so good, but I am concerned about the inverter during shipping.  From what I understand, you cant bang'em around too much.  After I pay the dutie, and taxes and shipping it works out to be around the same I would purchase it for up at a local RV store.
As far as going solar ... I have considered it, put that idea on the side burner for while.  My main plan is to see if I really like it up there first of all, power few hand tools to make a small deck for the PUP (under the awning) and map out future home site.
Cuttin trees and swattin mosquitos I forsee will be some of my next years activities.

Another thing that you might consider is building a "Noise shelter" and buying a larger, cheaper gen-set.

I used to have a cabin in Big Bear, CA. Back then (in the 70's) there were no "quiet" gens. I built a sound proof box, about 3'x3'. I lined it with plywood on the inside and outside of the 2x4 framing and put sound-proof insulation in between. Then I put commercial sound absorbing material on the inside. I put an insulated exhaust extension on it. I put a 3' long 4" round, insulated air intake on the bottom of one side and a 3' long 4" insulated air exhaust on the upper part of the other side. I put a fairly strong (110v) exhaust fan in the exhaust side.

You couldn't hear that generator running from 10' away.
