My wife is going to Fl. this week end with the sis-n-law,my mom,the kids and a few others.Just the ladies and kids thing.

I planned on going camping in the N. Ga. Mts.,but where I would be going its gonna be in the mid to upper 30's at night.Too cold for me since I aint too use to the cooler weather yet.Plus already stuffy and stuff in the throat from the resent weather change.

Am I a wimp or what?

My view is, I'm doing what I want.  Anybody doing something harder is into extreme sports.  Anybody doing something softer isn't really camping.

You're only a wimp if you're not going and other guys are still going.

Yes, (just kidding) my wife and I just came back from a weekend trip where it got down to freezing both nights. The campfire really feels good at those temps and the pup was warm and cozy making for great sleeping.....Shredder

When I camp/fish the western North Carolina mountains in the spring and fall it's not all that uncommon for the night temps to get a little "chilly".  If the weather stays good, i.e., warm days/cool/chilly nights, I can handle it just fine. It's when one of those cold rains pays a visit, where it's just not that many degrees above freezing, that I get chilled right to the bones! In fact, I think a dry 28/30 degree night is better to contend with than a night of 39 degree rain.

The whizz kids tell me that 39 degrees is where you will really "feel" the cold rain the most. Interesting to note that's when water is it's heavist - it's the surface water temperature that cause ponds and small lakes to "roll over". So when the weather report says it's likely to rain and the temp just might drop down to 39 degrees or so ... that's when I stay at home!

We like it when it's cold, especially when you wake up to snow on the pup and it's 17 degrees. you burn alot of propane but it's good, also with regards to the rain, I figure if I'm not at home or at work I don't care if it's raining or not, I will dry out eventually.

Its been a few days since I logged in,but thanks guys. But Austin, where did I say there were othere guys going,I didnt!I planned on going by myself.

No,I didnt go camping that weekend. But I did drive 3 hours to where my uncle lives, acually its where my parents grew up so I have alot of relatives there.
My Uncle Melvin owns several hundred acres spread out.
I stayed at what they call ''The Field House",(over 100 years old),its about 1500' off the main road nestled by a catfish pond and big pines. The surrounding field is about 150 acres planted with peanuts(I think). The only vehicle I seen go down that road the whole weekend was my uncles, one time.So its kind out there.
Dont get to see them much so they where very glad I came.
