My school district, Capistrano Unified,  just called and said the entire district is closed tomorrow....no school for students, teachers, staff.  Saddleback Unified is closed, as well.

Quote from: waveryIt's actually just as tricky when there is no wind. The pilot will be flying along with good control and as soon as they get above the fire, they are hit with a turbulent up-draft. On top of that, the release their load at the same time as they get hit with the updraft and they are on a rocket ride to the moon.

As guess the good news is.....you can't crash into the ground going up ;)
Austin you're turn. I think the score is 30 -15, with Wavery serving.

Jamesdad

glad to see you back Dave. hope everything is well with your home...now get back to work an take care of our favorite clmt's..ha.

Glad to hear your priorities were in order during your evacuation preperations. Save the Halloween ScCampers t-shirts. Our next campout, i'll buy you a cactus cooler...:)

Griffsdad, Good to see that everything is OK in your neck of the woods, But I really must have missed something with AB and Wayne regarding the FIRES !!

Thanks Kevin for the concern. It was a little hairy Monday and Tuesday. I went to work today, but coming home I could see flames on top of the hills again. Will it ever end? I hope they catch the guy that started the fires.

Lori and Dave glad you are all fine. I have seen Foothill Ranch mentioned a few times on the news lately as well as a few photos of the fire and the aftermath on this website. Looks like the guy lives in your neighborhood.
Foothill Ranch

Shane was also concerned when he saw me looking at the photos and I mentioned that this was close to where his friend Griffin lives.  So he read some of the posts and it was amusing listening to him telling Margaret about the fire, and that Griffin's school almost got burnt down.

Anyway, hope the calming winds give the firefighters a chance to control the fires.

Until the turbulence decides you need to be unside-down  :yikes:

Thanks, griffsdad, for the reminder...  :)

DK&3kids

Just got a PM from Jamesdad - Maria spoke with the Stones (Estelle) last night - they got back home!  I'm hoping and assuming this means the Hardees are back home, too.  GREAT news for you, too, Dave and Lori.  Lisa - we've been locked inside all week with our students - with all of the stress, I'm glad they closed you guys -the kids need the reassurance of family right now.

One of my colleague's brother in law is a firefighter and they were able to get into parts of the Temecula fire to check on their parent's home - he said it was just eerie and devastating.

Yes, it is best the students are home.  However, I have been stuck inside for three days with my students, and they have been crazy!  Worse than rainy day behavior.  And, yesterday, the lights kept flickering on and off throughout the day....and they would yell "FIRE!".  Today was my day OFF....I was looking forward to being away from my students and sending my sweet kids off to school....and being by MYSELF!  Poor me.

LMAO! Why is it that the first thing that popped into my head after reading Lisa's post was a classroom full of kids going nuts, and our Lisa sitting at her desk, frazzled, with a cup, Bottle of Vodka, Bottle of Peach Schapps, a kid size OJ, and a 16oz Monster sitting in front of her?

Thanks Kevin for thinking about us. The photos are of our little community and for two days it was a little dicey. Tell Shane thanks too. Griffin and his school are okay. We have been blessed. Thanks again.

As far as we are from the fire, we're on rainy day schedule, too.  It's smoky here & no good at all outside.  I have a headache, I think as much from the kids as from the smoke.  And we'll probably be inside tomorrow, too.  Ugh.

I finally got a running computer so I can chime in here for the NorCal group.  Glad to see you are all OK, I thought about all of you and kept you in my prayers.  It is so awful to see all this on TV.  It's not over yet, so keep us posted.

Good luck to all of you, and I'll keep you in my prayers.

Oh, that would have helped so much!  I would have joined in the chaos vs trying to contain it!  The backup plan....chocolate...and lots of it!!!
