Warranty repairs

I have had my PU for about 1/2 a year now.  Now that things are slowing down I'm about to take it in for warranty repairs.  I wonder if everyone else is doing the same...?  I have a list of about 6 things that need to be fixed!  They're gonna love me!

I hope the repairs don't take a long time.  One of the items to be fixed/looked at is my Dometic fridge.

Does anyone have any tips for getting warranty repairs done right the first time and in a timely manner?  I'm sure they probably are gonna have to order some things like the door latch.  Should I call ahead and ask them that?

I called ahead for an appointment, and told them what was needed.  Upon arrival for service, I presented them with a typed list and upon pick up I went over the list and checked it.

Depending upon what needs to be done (repair or replacement) and what parts are stocked vs. need to be ordered will make a difference in your service time.

As my unit was to be roofless for a week - I had to empty my PUP before taking it in for service.

I often put off warranty work until I will not be using my PU for a while.  I have need work done all season, but didn't want to be without my PU.  They need to fix the roof seal again and the lift system again.  I am glad I have a life time warranty on those parts.:)

Well, I finally got around to taking my PU in for repairs.  I gave them a list of about 5 or 6 things.  The fridge being most important.  The dealer told me they would test the fridge using 110v and also test it using the propane.  They will provide results from the tests and let me know how cold it got inside the fridge.  This sounds good to me.  I wonder how cold I should expect?  I was told the turnaround is 4 days unless they need to order something.

Best time? Right now. Wait until the campiong season starts and the dealeship service departments fill up and you can get long waits, not to mention worse quality work as the techs get rushed; and getting new sold RV's ready takes precedence over repairs. Either warranty or otherwise.
I always get a laugh about the morons that complain they find problems the day before their vacation in July and bitch and moan about how the dealer won't service them "RIGHT NOW".

Maybe now is a good time.  They weren't busy when I dropped it off and I got a call today that it's ready!  They're supposed to be a good dealer and so far no problems.

They said my fridge got down to the 20's on propane and 30's with electric (vice versa?).  Anyways tomorrow I pick it up and I'll verify those temps.  They said they want me to go over with them how I've been doing the fridge to see where I may be going wrong.  I'll bet it's something as dumb as I thought 10 was coldest and it's actually 1.  ha ha ha  : )

One of the things that I could be doing wrong is trying to get the fridge cold while my PU is still in my garage.  There is no air circulation and the garage is usually hot during the summer months.

My opinion, perfect time for repairs. Business is slow (as long as you can get your camper out of the snow). Took ours in about a month ago, dealer said at least 2 weks for ordering new counter tops. I said I'm in no hurry! Keep as long as you want. (WINK WINK)Had a list ofabout 20 things. Yep, let the problems build all summer long. Most small and minut problems.  sO FAR NO CALL AND THAT'S FINE WITH ME, we still have too much snow!

When I went to pick up my PU at the dealer they showed me the temperature gauge they had in the fridge and it was at 35 degrees and that was on 6 (1-7 coldest being 7).  They also showed me their notes for how cold it got.  It actually got a few degrees colder on the propane.  So they didn't need to fix anything, the fridge is working correctly.

I told them how I turned the fridge on and there wasn't anything I was doing wrong.  I took it home and it stayed cold.  I'm gonna buy a temperature gauge so I know for sure in the future.  Because sometimes I reach in there and it doesn't feel that cold but maybe its colder than I think.

I think I'll also add a fan to the outside and maybe add one of the ones for the inside too.  While the results at the dealer show the fridge got cold, the temperature where I live is 40's at night and 70's for a high.  I'm sure if it was hotter the fridge wouldn't work like I want.

So here is my question to you.  Which fan makes the fridge work better the exterior or interior?
