Wow it seems like over the past two weeks there has been very little activity here. Where is everyone? Have my yankee friends gone into hibernation already? Have my fellow southerners forgotten that this is our prime time for camping? And where the hell is AustinBoston usually he's good for several interesting topics?

Just to let you know, I am going camping this weekend with my wife and two other couples. Lows in the mid 40's highs in the lower 70's with no chance of rain and low humidity; How ya like those apples?

I'm gonna kayak and fish and hike and eat and nap and eat and nap again and then I'm gonna sip an adult beverage or two by the campfire at night telling fish stories and all sorts of other tales. I'm gonna enjoy our friends company and sleep snuggled up with my wife and then in the morning I'm gonna perk and eat eggs, bacon and bisquits and start all over again.

And ya know what else? I'm not gonna think about work at all for the entire weekend.

So what are the rest of you doing this weekend?

Very cool,Cajun! I spent the better part of October hunting. I camped at 9500ft. Temp hit mid 50s to low 60s during the day.Nights and early mornings saw the teens.Lots of snow too.My PUP handled it great.Stayed warm the whole time. The only thing I worried about was the temp when it was time to take down.Upper 30s lower 40s.The cause for concern being the windows becoming brittle and getting damaged. No problems though.I will invest in bunk end covers before my next outing in the spring.Snowmobile season is nearing. That takes up the majority of our non-working time in the winter.

Sounds like a good time Cajun!!
We're also going Campimg this week, we're going up to Lake Mead for some dry camping for 2 days. We leave Tuesday and will return Thursday. Lake Mead is only an hour drive from the house, but its nice to get away, especially with the PU.....Ed C.

P.S. With the Family Toooo!!!

Well, our new to us used camper had some hidden water damage and a leak in the storage box that the dealer is fixing so we won't have it in time for our first planned outing.  Looks like no camping for this family until spring.

I'll be sure to hang around here, though and pick up tips, stories and other curiosities.

Ahh, to have time to camp this season!
This year it's been the task of renting out our two homes...then buying a new one and renovating it since MAY!
We leave for Hawaii on the 17th, for a much deserved break...we can't take the camper with us however, ha!

We are going to try to camp in South Texas this December weather permitting, any suggestions on where to go?

Not camping this weekend but doing the motel bit up in Maine.

DD has a rugby tournament Saturday and Sunday.

This may be the last chance we have to see her play as this is her senior year.  She is co-captain of the team.

It has been four years of pure fright watching her play this sport.  This has to be one of the toughest sports going.

Ony two ambulance rides and I don't know how many minor injuries over four years.  DW and I use to dread watching her play soccer but watching the rugby games is a lot tougher.

what are we doing this weekend????? How about being really jealous of your trip???????   Sounds wonderful and hope it was as great as it sounds...heck, I was thrilled just to be able to go out and sit in our camper for awhile!    It would have been a great camping weekend if it was still just DH and I...a bit cold and windy for Mom though.

I work retail, so I have to work every other weekend.  Kinda cuts into my camping time..... bummer.

Still, I 'won' an extra paid day off, so, since I have this weekend off, I added it to this weekend.  We were hoping to go camping, but am not sure.  Last weekend was beautiful weather, but this weekend is supposed to be cold and rainy on Sunday & Monday.

Normally I don't mind rain or cold - but I had the camper so well dried out that I hate the thought of getting the canvas drenched again and dealing with cold/damp trying to dry it all out again to put away for the winter smelling musty.  I'm probably going to have to store it outdoors, and we closed it up last thursday and covered it.  I need to work on it some, still - so if we don't get to camp at least one night this weekend, we may open it up, if it isn't raining, and caulk it up and work on some of it's 'projects'.  We still haven't tried the Furnace, yet! I'd love to extend the bed, rip up the linoleum, paint, caulk, fix up two corners where the canvas is pulling away - i have a LOOOOONG list!
