A clip from the bottom of my curtain was stuck in my bed rail on the inside of the pup.  I removed the plastic rail stop and removed the clip.  Now, I can't get the nut tightened on the back of the rail stop.  There isn't enough room to get a good hold on the nut.  Is there a special tool for this?  Has anyone else had this problem?

My Toys you might try a small pair of needle nose vise Grip they may be small enough to get a hold on the nut.

I'm trying to picture this and I can't - my bed rails must be different than yours -

But, I had a similar problem trying to hold a nut on the back of the lifter arms when I took them completely apart to clean and re-do the cables.  my fingers wouldn't fit inside the bar to hold the nut to get the short screw started that held the pulleys onto the posts. I solved it by taking a crescent wrench and puttin a bit of tape across the back of one side, so I could place the nut into this 'spoon' crated by the 'C' of the wrench and the tape - then I could hold the nut up in place inside the lifter arm until the threads caught. I could hold it in place until I could get it tight.

The only other thing I can think of, is if there isn't enough depth to get a crescent wrench in there, you might look for one of those sheet-metal wrenches that come with things like kid's toys and other 'stuff' that needs to be assembled.  another example is the small wrench that comes with my dremel tool - used to tighten the collet.  I recently got a couple with the hardware kit for assembling a screen house for my back yard.  they are very specific to the size of the nuts that come with your 'project'  but I know I have a few of these thin, 3" - 4" long wrenches around from various items.

I have a couple from the screen house (I got 4 screen houses from the store I work at - all missing parts or damaged, and they let me have them to try and assemble one full screen room from. I have LOTS of leftover parts!)  If you think the 'thin wrench' will help - let me know what your nut size is, and e-mail me, laurat7 at sbcglobal dot net and I'll be happy to mail you one if it's the right size.

Definitely can't fit vise grips or crescent wrench.  There is only about 1/8" depth to get behind the rail stop.  Once around the rail stop, the nut is at a slightly deeper depth (almost recessed).  If that makes any sense.  I did not think of the thin wrench.  I will see if I can get the size of the nut.  I got it started.  I had to tape it on to do that.  Just can't get it any tighter.   Thanks for the idea scoutermom, I may be emailing you.

Been lurking for a while and this is my first post here so take it with a grain of salt. On my old Rockwood you needed to pull the bunk out to near the stopping point. Once you got to that point there was a hole in the matching rail that allowed access to the hidden side.

Perhaps Fleetwood has something similar?

Welcome jwg188 (John).  I have been a member for a long time but don't post much either.  I hope your solution helps!

Welcome to PUT!  Everyone's advice is welcome.  No grain of salt needed.:)

With my bed all the way out the rail stop is still inside the pup.

Nancy did you call your dealer's service department and ask them?:)

Well, I got the nut tightened.  I used one of those cheap thin wrenches (thanks scoutermom).  I had to bend it around the rail but it worked.

So now you have the bed fixed, ready to go camping with us at Thanksgiving?:D
