We own a 2006 fleetwood Niagara and would like to add a grey water tank. Does anyone have any info on how to do this or does anyone offer a kit for this? Or are there any other solutions so we don't need to take an extra grey water tank and wheel it to the dump area to empty it? Please tell us how you deal with this chore. Thanks- Alex

Just one thought: are you prepared to close down the trailer and move it to the dump station when your added tank get full?

I wouldn't do it because of the point Mike brings up. But too each his own. If this is something you really want to do. I would suggest to go to your dearest FW dealer. Fleetwood did offer this feature during the 2006/2007 models. You could order the tanks and parts from them and then install it like Fleetwood did on there PU's. This way you know it will fit correctly

If I could add a 15 to 20 gal grey water tank I wouldn't need to go to the dump until after about 2 days of camping. This would be great at camp sites that didn't have full hookups. Now I need to lug around a separate grey water tank which holds 11 gals and still needs to be emptied. And now that it's a separate tank that weighs 88 lbs full, it's a pain to get it to the dump by pulling it by hand with it's small wheels.

I called the manfacturer, Fleetwood, and talked to a service rep that has worked at Fleetwood for 20+ years. He said they had to re-structure the frame on 2007 models to be able to get a 20 gal grey water tank to work. He also said Fleetwood doesn't offer any solutions to add a grey water tank.

I just thought it would great not needing to use a portable grey water tank and I still would like to find a kit or something.

If the problem is hauling  88 pounds of water by hand, why not get a blue tote with an attachment that allows you to hook up the tote to the hitch ball and haul it to and from the dump station. Here is a picture of the one I have.

Call me old fashioned, but I am still using a joint compound bucket with a lid that I cut a small hole in to put the garden hose in to.  I have to dump it once a day but that isn't that big of a deal.

Seems like everyone has an opinion on this topic, but nobody has offered an answer to your OP question.  This place has RV holding tanks, which would probably work.
RV HOLDING TANKS

I've never personally bought anything from this company, so I can offer no personal experiences.

Our 2007 Niagara has the factory 15 gallon grey water tank, which has never been a problem, (even using the shower) for a 2 day weekend for the wife and I.  You do need to watch how much water you use, but it is not hard.  I also have an extra portable grey water tank for longer trips so I can off load the on board tank if the on board tank does get full.  The biggest problem I've had with the grey water, is that the tank is shallow, so putting a block under the wheel opposite the drain will help it drain faster, and make sure it is empty.

You are right that none of us offered up a place to get a tank that one could mount underneath and I thank you for doing that.

Now I realize that you and others have purchased PUP's with built in tanks I'm happy that you like your system.   However, I would not discount the advice that has been given here on whether this is a a great mod or not.  I say this from first hand experience where I had the tank I was going to mount and was searching for the hardware. Then I stated to think of the consequences (e.g. what size second tank would I need, plumbing questions, how to determine the amount of wastewater in the tank, do I want to start restricting water use  by my family etc.).  At the end of the day I punted making the change and  will offer up my learnings to others

Take care.

I never discounted anyones opinion or advice on adding an onboard tank, I only posted a source to obtain one (as the OP asked), and stated my experiences.  I really like my PUP, and I use all of it's features, which happens to include the onboard grey and black water tanks.  I also cook on the indoor stove sometimes, and have used the microwave a couple of times, so I am far from a minimalist, yet I prefer the tent and screen open feeling over having full hardwalls.

You are correct.  I interpreted your giving the link to a tank as support to the project... and I apologize for making that assumption.

Hello
Sounds like a great idea to me and with a little inginuity I think it would be simple.  Couldn't you use a second fresh water tank with a pvc y to allow for draining and for normal operation when the tank is full.  Weight would not really be a problem because you would only be towing from the sight to the drop station. I would think that with a little PVC found at your local Home Depot this should be simple.
