Does anyone have experience installing the Yakima Track system on their PU?
Thinking about installing for kayak / bike (probably not at the same time).

On a Fleetwood the Yakima track comes pre-installed from the factory.  It's up to the owner to purchase the accessories for a kayak, bike, etc. to slide onto the track.

I have carried kids bicycles by using four yakima control towers, four #1 landing pads, two Fleetwood crossbars, and two Yakima bike holders.  It all easily slides on and bolts together.   It gets a little tricky if you mount the carriers towards the center of the roof, because they are harder to reach.  You might need a stepladder.

I use the Yakima rack system also. My PU did not come with the roof track already installed. So I paid my FW dealer to install the 4 towers and the crossbars for me. this way I could get them to guarantee that the install would not leak. I bought all of my accessories off of EBay and saved a bunch.
you didn't mention what type of PU you have.

Thanks for the info ... I am picking up a Jayco Eagle 14SO in a week or so.

Does anyone know if the rain gutters on a PUP are strong enough to attach Yakima posts to?  We used them on our old Cherokee, but while the ones on my PUP are the same shape, and I am sure that they would attach securely, I am not convinced that the gutters themselves are sturdy enough.

not sure if the post would connect to the rails, but what does catch my thoughts, is the crossbars not being long enough. I know FW offers longer than normal crossbars, but they are still  narrower than the width of the PU roof.
