dee,
I need a favor please......

my son was in a very serious off road accident saturday, 11/10. He went head over handle bars the bike landed on his lower back. At this point, he has only a small sensation below his belly button... Can you pleasse post a prayer chain. We really need them coming in....also, can you post if anyone has upgraded their business/personal laptop and they have an old laptop in storage if they would be willling to donate it to Brett. We want him to be able to check his e-mail, my space etc. Also be able to chat with people with the same injuries. I try to take my back and forth but sometimes I forget. but mostly, we need the prayers. I will have to cancel out on prez weekend.. I am not sure about the allen family if they will sstill want to go or not. I am not sure about easter yet. hopefully, I can keep my reservation as long as possible. I have not read any posts about anything. If something comes up, about dead lines for easter etc, will you let me know. If some one what's our spot for prez weekend, I am sure we can work something out. they are probably full.

Thanks so much
Roberta

Hi All,
thank you for your prayers and please keep them coming.  As  you know, my son was at the desert on 11/10.  First day off after working the fires.  He was riding his quad and zigged when he should have zagged.  He was trying to avoid running into a dune buggy which had cut him off.  He went head over handle bars and the quad hit him in the lower back.  For weeks, he had no feeling below his bellybutton.  He was in UCSD for a week and a half then because of insurance, moved to Kaiser for a week and a half. His experience in the hospital was not a good one.  He was dropped twice, even though he could not move his legs, he had extreme pain in his thighs and they kept telling him that it wasn't really there.  (really sad)  They didn't bath him or take care of his "bathroom" duties.  His rooms in both hospitals were never cleaned.  It was truly a nightmare.   He was finally moved to re-hab after about 3 weeks total in the hospital.  It's been a long scary month but he is in a great re-hab and they treat him like a person.  He works very hard and at the end of the day, he is very tired.  Things are happening.....baby steps but they are happening.  Yesterday during physical therapy, he moved his toes.  It truly was a great moment.  Unfortunatly, he didn't see it.  But the rest of us did.  This was a voluntary movement his physical therapist kept telling him to move his toes, and he did.  We are not sure how long he will be in re-hab, he does want to come home but knows that they are helping him.  Nights and early mornings are really hard on him because he can only sit and think about his life and what he has lost.  I am sure Brett will come back to us soon along with his smile and super personalitly.  At home, we are in the process of a re-model.  We are turning the garage into a suite for him because we have a two level home.  It will be nice when it is finished.  I am very lucky, my co-workers have donated time so I can be with Brett.  I think it's going to be a long haul but we will be back to ab-normal soon.  Please keep you thoughts and prayers coming.  We need Brett to keep his spirits up so he can make this challenge easier.

Thanks again
Roberta

Thats Good news Roberta. I have enlisted the help of my ToyHo friends from another site as well. They will always be there for a fellow rider with thoughts & prayers. Let him know there is a ton of us behind him for a full recovery.
