Just returned from a short overnighter to McDowell Mtn Reg Park outside of Fountain Hills, AZ.

We arrived a little after 3 pm and managed to get the last spot. Cost was $20 for a site with elec/water hookups. Bathroom cleanliness was a 8 on a 10 scale. Sites were very large and well kept. Each site had a picnic table, grill and inground fire pit. They do sell bundles of wood onsite for $6.00. There is a dump station. There is a playground for those with children. There are nice views of the surrounding moutains from the cg.

Last night while sitting around the campfire my 8 yr old boy said, "Look, a havalina!" Knowing him and knowing he makes a lot of things up none of us looked right away until he repeated it. Sure enough a havalina was strolling through our campsite about 20 ft away from us. Another camper had told my wife that she had seen four of them in their site and they wandered off with their dogs food bowl. During the night I'm sure I heard a few of them wandering around right next to the PU.

It did get chilly last night and we ran the heat in the PU for the first time. It did a good job.

This morning we drove over to another area of the park (it's huge) and took a little hike before heading home.

We enjoyed our stay and would definitely go back
