Hey Jim
Glad you guys can make it.
I was starting to think that you were all talk and really only went to full-hook-up camp sites  LOL :p

Hi Y'all. We've camped at Joshua Tree/Indian Cove for at least 6 or 7 years with the YMCA Princesses. Couple of thoughts for those who are going:

If you like dessert camping, I think you will really enjoy Indian Cove. It is in the middle of some cool rock formations, and the desert fauna quite interesting up their.

The kids will love the rock climbing. Make sure you bring leather gloves for them, the granite is quite coarse, and is hard on bare skin. Also, have the kids wear only their oldest jeans for climbing in, the knees and seats of the pants will get worn through in no-time. Our girls typically will wind up with their pants duct taped together to preserve their modesty.

Their are nearby fast food places, and a Stator Bros. market, in Twenty Nine Palms. The drive up Hwy 62, from I-10, will not pose much difficulty. There is a bit of elevation climb from Whitewater to Yucca Valley, but it is 4 lanes all the way.

The sites don't have running water, so you'll want to fill up at the entrance ranger station. For those wanting to fill their trailer tanks, this might be tricky, as I recall, the spigots are not convieniently placed for this purpose, and they are not the typical spigot set up you might find at a sanitary dump station.

The pit toilets are concrete constructed, and are well maintained, and they don't get too groady.

Thanks for the up's on the kid's wear. I have 2 VERY ACTIVE boys and I will bring their holey comfortable type jeans so I can just toss when we get home. We have family in Palm Springs so maybe we can see them during our trip. I know they will climb as many things that they can find and will be happy if we don't have to visit an ER on this trip.

Hi Kim,
I just sent him an email reminding him to look at this thread.  He's our next door neighbor so if you don't hear back I can always go knock on his door.  This will be their new baby's first rally so it will be a special event.  If it is not too much trouble, we would like to have our sites next to each other.
Thanks!
Jeanne
