Quote from: kimrb266I'm really looking foward to this trip.  We haven't been out since the Halloween Rally and the kids and I are having withdrawls....

Us too!  That was our last camping trip.  I almost feel like one of those NorEastern folks who "winterize" and are just now thawing out!  Time to start the year round camping season, ....again! :tent:

We are planning to arrive around 2pm (check-in time).   I read on the website that a campground was closed due to bee invasion.  I hope we don't have a problem with bees becaue I don't like them and am afraid of them.

I Googled on "Joshua Tree Bees" and the 1st entry happened to be nps.gov.  I called Joshua Tree and they stated that that website was out dated and no campgrounds are closed but that there are bees in the area because the flowers are in bloom.  They also told me that they aren't aware of many stings taking place.  So, to be safe, IF ANYONE IS ALLERGIC TO BEES, BRING YOUR EPI PEN!

If you'd like to talk to someone, call 760-967-5500.

Thanks

Thanks for the heads up on the Bee's just in case think I'll have Jim pack up the screen tent and our screen awning add on........Can't be to careful......Of course our little Pickles is coming........We almost lost her last weekend what a scare we had.......Thank goodness we had her micro-chipped and the people that found her called and were given our address and phone number......But we found her before they had to call our house/cell.........!!!!!!!!!!!!
I thought I was going to had a complete break down.......Don't know how she slipped out of the house we were at Jim's Aunt's house in Seal Beach but she did and we don't know how long she was gone.....Jim went one way and I the other yelling out her name and what seemed like forever ended with a lady running out of her house and saying are you looking for a little dog?  Which was our little Pickles and was I ever glad to see her......The lady even said Pickles was glad to see her and her little dog ( she must have been a very scared little Pickles!)  Anyway yes PICKLES will be with us..............carol

I'm glad you found pickles.   Losing her would be the same as when we lost Josh when we went to Pismo.  Seenig her, is a sight for sore eyes.  Pickles is your little one and Josh is mine.    I'm not looking forward to the bee's but we'll see how things go.  Hopefully, there will only be a few but I'm going to see about getting bee traps in case.

Found it and it is dated June 2007. So hopefully no problem this year.

kimrb266

We have 10 of us going to Joshua Tree and most of you will probably want to participate in the usual potlucks so if you could let us know what you'll bring so we won't duplicate.

REMINDER:  This is dry camping so Crockpots can't be used.

I'll go 1st - AM potluck - Fresh fruit Salad
                PM  " - ?

Recumbentman

Okay Kim,  I will do scrambled egg/sausage dish for AM, and it will probably be a Mexican chicken DO Dinner dish....who's next?

We'll be coming in the afternoon of Friday the 11th. I'm not worried about bees, but the thought of snakes has me absolutely petrified......anyone have any comforting words on that subject?

As for potlucks:
I'll do pancakes for breakfast and probably beef stroganoff for dinner. Maybe I'll make a dessert too...

Carol--so glad you found Pickles. Our cat Boo Boo died right before Christmas and it is just awful to lose a pet regardless of old age or running away.

griffsdad

Carol and Jim, I'm so glad that you found Pickles!!!

Lori, I wish I had comforting words regarding snakes, but I don't...I am beyond petrified to point that I don't even look at a picture of them!!!  we can hide in the trailer if needed (where the wine is!)
