Hi All!!! I've been busy for the last 3 day putting up the Christmas Lights on the house, and i'm about 3/4 of  the way done, but i have to say that my Body is HURTIN!!!! Climbing the ladder, bending in funny positions just to get the lights just right takes its toll. I came in after it got dark and sat my butt in the chair for about 20 minutes and tried to get up, mann i could barely move!!!! Getting old is a B%#$H!!! I just had to share.........Ed C

DH gets to put up our lights in a week or so; I'm sure he's looking forward to that.  We are trying something new this year.  We  purchased LED lights and they are suppose to use very little energy to run.   I guess, I'll know for sure once we get our electric bill.

Hope your body recovers soon.

I would LOVE to see pictures of the finished product.

I did our lights last weekend.  Took about four hours, but i still have a few things to do.  But I am still sore from it, getting old and out of shape I guess

I just spent 4 of the last 5 days putting up over 10,000 lights in 30 deg. weather, with a stiff wind chill hovering around 20 degs.....and it drizzeled and snowed........I gotta be losing it...:eyecrazy: ....Icy-Hot is my best friend.

That was the Grisswald Contest i entered last year and i came in third place. I was happy with that. Our  Home Owners Association has a lighting contest every year and i've come in first place the last 10 years in a row. This year i made some 30 foot arches that will go over my drive way. I used pvc and green lights and green tinsel, i think they look pretty cool. I'm going to have the house ready to light by Saturday i hope. Its alot of work. I'll take pics and post them for anyone who would like to see them..........Thanks,...............Ed C.

I wish my lights took only 4 hours to put up, it takes me 3-4 hours just to get them all plugged in. I'm going to post some pics in a week or so, i hope everyone else will do the same. Its always nice to check out other peoples light, thats a good way to get fresh ideas..........Ed C.

I'm sorry, i had to laugh a little when i read your post. Man thats cold, i thought it was cold here in the low 60's while i was doing mine. Its been along time since i was in cold weather like that (since i lived in Wisconsin) out West here it doesn't get that cold. I do feel for you and I know all about that Icy Hot, i've been using it like crazy since i started putting the lights on the house..........Ed C.

You know, i'm thinkin a lawn chair and a 12 pack of beer, sitting in your yard watching you put all these lights up would be cool.

We got ours all done yesterday.  We don't go all out like some but we do enjoy having some.  DH had to make a manger for our nativity scene and then worked on a couple strands of lights for hours before going to WW and getting a new strand.  I look forward to seeing your pics.

We have all LED lights too.  We bought a few boxes at Costco last year and than bought 3 more this year.  I like the glow they give out.  Very different from everyone elses.  My husband iis in electrical wholesale so he is totally in to saving energy and money.  All our lights went up on thanksgiving weekend.

Thats been my wifes job for years!! That and keeping 911 on the speed dial. One year I got up on the roof and blew out my knee.  I laid on the roof like a wounded seal until I could walk on my own to get down the ladder. No way was the Fire Dept going to winch me down!!! Anyways, I'M done for this year and will be posting pics ASAP. Ive gotta wait until after this stowm blows thru today and tomorrow. Its already 19 degrees out and we're expecting snow/sleet and an ice storm all in the next 48 hours......UG..:swear:

Funny, I can still remember walking up St Josephs St. in South Bend to school in the 2nd grade in the snow.  Then moved to Az and saw no snow at all.
