Can anyone tell us exactly what we'll need to hook satellite up in our trailer? Where do we get the extra dish and receiver? Any idea how much extra it will cost us a month? We have Dish Network.

Thx

I can tell you, and it's RIDICULOUS!

You have to BUY the reciever for 130.00
BUY the Dish for 100.00
BUY the Cabling for 30.00
add 5.00 per mo to the bill for the additional reciever

Then....wait for it.........if you decide to change from Dish Network, you have to send them back the reciever you bought because they call it a lease!  (Insert Smiley Bending Over here)

Kristi,

PM or talk to Dan - we got our dish for free from the installation guy - there are ways around all the cost!!!!!

Ok, thanks. I'll have Brian talk to him.  And to answer your question Wayne, No he's not home alot. Someone has to make the money so we can camp.:)

Simple, If you already have Sat. then you only need a used or portable dish and take a receiver from home, set it up at camp site align dish and if you want you can reprogram the receiver for local stations by entering the zip code your camping in.

I sure wish that you would have posted this sooner. I just through a dish out last week. people leave them behind in our apartments all the time. I'll keep you in mind.

I have a receiver in storage that someone left behind (a few years ago). Do you want me to check and see what it is? I know nothing about the things.

oreo57

The receiver is only compatible if programed with your system, I've got 4 receiver's and can take any of them camping without additional charge beyond what they get me for now. Some receivers are system only compatible re: dish network or direct, hughes etc.

Thanks for the offer Wayne but after talking to my dad and what Oreo57 posted we are going to try taking the receiver out of Ashlee's room and try it. I now need to find a Dish Network Dish. I may look on ebay tonite and see what I can find. My dad is giving us his stand he used when they were in the motorhome. We'll get that when we go back to AZ for Christmas.

YOu might try craigslist for the dish, you may find one there.  Funny we just saw a truck the other day filled with them, must have been a competitor taking them down.

I was camping with a friend who couldn't get her satellite to work for nothin'.  Turns out it was because she was using a "secondary" receiver that fed off of a main one from her house.  Don't have satellite, so don't know how they work, but you might want to make sure that Ashlee's receiver isn't just a dummy one & can actually receive on its own.

I'll check that out.  I'm not sure either.  I know Kristi's dad uses their secondary reciever.  One of my ToyHo friends just PMed me saying he has a set up dish I can have.  So that's 1/2 the battle

We just bring our box from home and there for it doesn't cost anything......Ya can use almost any dish set up it's the box that counts.......We also have Dish Network what they don't know won't hurt them......carol
