Who is ready to go camping???  Is anyone else interested in camping in January 2008???

SheBantam

Sorry, we are going to the Caribbean, will be camping out on the top deck of the Norweigan Magesty...outside unobstructed view cabin includes all you can eat all day and all night...

Wow Paula. Have a great time. Your trip sounds much more appealing than camping in this cold, wintery mess.

So Tracy, to answer your question - count me out, no camping until spring - unless it's in a warm location. This wintery weather makes me conjure up images of sitting with my feet up, sipping hot chocolate, with a fire blazing in my indoor fireplace.

Wow.  What a coincidence.  We'll be on the Norwegian Majesty on Feb. 19 sailing.  When are you going?  Got our cabin, lower deck, for about $1500 for the 3 of us.

We are leaving Jan 26th.  We sailed on this boat/ship last Feb. It is perfect for Raymond and I as it is a VERY small cruise ship without all the climbing walls, etc. it has 2 pools, and a hot tub (right in front of the Buffet line on the top deck.  Raymond and I spent a lot of time out there in Feb just doi'n nutt'n.

We took the excursions last year. Beware of Cozumel, everywhere there are people trying to get you buy things, they try to wear you dowm. The Tequilla place was the highlight, even got samples.  But the docks were taken by hurricanes out so small boats had to take us in as well as the Grand Caymans.  At Key West we did not get off the boat, they were taking about 35 people at a time on trams and I just could not stand that long in line.  So we enjoyed a nice afternoon just lounging and that was the only time we ate in one of the dinig rooms.  We did the buffets almost exclusively. We did not do the shows, but saw the videos the next day. We are not night people.

We are doing any excursions this trip. We got it for $459/person plus taxes, fees, travel insurance.

It will cost you $105 to park, you pay as you go into park and are directed into an old warehouse. Make sure you bring cash or a check for that.

Tips are $10.00/day per person and are added onto the bill at the end.
Water is expensive, about $5.00/bottle, we used the bathroom sink.
Soap, shampoo and conditioner are provided as is a blowdryer.
Expect to sanitized everythime you eat and board the ship, they have that stuff you put on your hands and do not need water.

They clean and/or freshen the room 2 x per day and fill the ice 2 x/day.
There is nothing to do but relax, unless you want to use the excersize room. Some folks consider the slots as relaxation...not me.

Tracy,

Is there any month you haven't camped in???  :p

At any rate, not intending to hijack the thread with the Cruise tangent.  We may be camping one night in Jan.  We'll be going to Moutaintop Campground in Tarentum, PA the day after Christmas or so.  We'll wait for a good weather travel day.  Planning on returning New Years Day, again depending on weather.  So...if we have bad weather, we may find ourselves camping in Jan.  We'll be making this trip to visit DD#1 near Pittsburgh.  That will, most likely, be the end of the season for us.  Next trip would be in April, we're targeting Shenandoah National Park for that one.

Camped or tried to first day of trout season and got caught in a noreaster. Creek rose fast and furious, got outta there fast. NAWWWW, I will wait for better weather, as I am a fair-weather-camper.

I was waiting for Rick to chime in about the KOA with the log cabin bathrooms.  Actually, it doesn't really matter to me.  If nobody else is going then we will just pick somewhere in between our two locals.
