Is Starcraft 11 rt tough enough

Thinking about getting a new 07 starcraft 11 rt and hauling my 700 lbs quad on the front. Dealer says it will be OK but i am a little suspicious as there was a recall on 70 units in the 07s http://www.allworldauto.com/recalls/NHTSA_07V337000_2007_STARCRAFT_11RT_recall_67648.html with frame problems. The 08S have beefed up frames. The particular unit I am looking at is not affected buy the recall. The fleetwoods look a little tougher but I can get this cheaper. I will be taking it off road into the bush. Do you think these are tough enough. Any input is appreciated.

I imagine the unit you are looking at is the style with a front platform for carrying toys.
I would see what the mnfgr says the payload is for the unit, NOT what the salesman says it will carry so he can make the sale.

The only other suggestion I might have is that 700 lbs that far forward is gonna be a lot of tongue weight. Is you tow rig set up for it?

I just sent a e-mail to the dealer to that regard. I don't know allot about receivers. Mine says Weight distributing 1000 lbs, weight carring 500 lbs, trailer weight 10,000, trailer caring 5000 lbs. TV is Dodge diesel truck

That rating on the receiver is just that. A rating for the receiver not the tow rig. your TR should have ratings in the owners manual or call the dealer.
IE a Ford explorer might have a receiver that has the same rating as yours, then a F350 might have the same receiver but obviously the F350 will handle the tongue weight much better without he addition of a load distribution hitch.
Trailer brakes might be nice to have also.

Not a lot of cargo capacity on the 11RT as shown below. Remember all the weights for the pu are dry weights.
Just a full load of water (35 gal) and your atv would about put you over. Not counting batteries, propane, atv fuel and your "stuff".

To me it looks like the 11rt has about 1341 lbs of payload. I wonder if the CCC is the weight that the cargo deck can carry and the rest needs to be distributed within the pop up?

35 Gal H2O 280
20lb of propane 40lbs w/ tank
5 gal ATV fuel 35
battery...60ish each
Just some rough weights.

We are at 1115 lbs so far that leaves 226 lbs for everything else. Looks doable but right at the limit.
Might be a good idea to clarify the CCC capacity.
Looking at the design of the 11rt if you add the ATV to the deck I would guess 400 lbs of the ATV weight would be on the tongue added to the 291 already there and you are at 691...give or take. Either way your receiver would require a weight distributing hitch....
Take it all for what it is worth.

Below are Starcraft's definitions for loadings. CCC accounts for weight of water, propane and batteries. So your atv plus 267# of other stuff will put you at axle limit. If your off roading or rough roading with it, I would be wary of exceeding axle capacity.

GVWR - Gross Vehicle Weight Rating
The maximum permissible weight of the trailer when fully loaded with all systems filled. It includes all weight at the trailer axle(s) plus hitch.
UVW - Unloaded Vehicle Weight
Sometimes referred to as the Gross Vehicle Weight or Curb Weight, the UVW is the dry weight of the trailer as manufactured at the factory. It includes all weight at the trailer axle(s) plus hitch.
HW - Hitch Weight
Hitch Weight represents the portion of the trailer weight that is carried by the tongue to the hitch ball on the tow vehicle.
CCC - Cargo Carrying Capacity
Sometimes referred to as Rated Cargo Load, the CCC is equal to the GVWR minus each of the following: UVW, full fresh water weight (including water heater) plus filled propane tank(s) and battery weight.

My Starcraft dealer said the only changes for '08 were canvas colors. Me thinks I smell the faint odor of cattle droppings

If you compare the 07 and 08 trailer weight (GVW) the 08 is about 160lbs heavier. That new canvas is pretty heavy. LOL  I would guess an extra frame gusset or two. Who knows, something is different (heavier)

Why not cut to the chase and just call StarcraftRV directly.  They've got a tech assist dept. and everybody in parts and in tech assist are fantastic to deal with.
