Can anyone recommend a nice rv park or campground near Ocean City?  We are from NH and plan to take the school spring vacation break and go camping somewhere down in that area.  We camp in a hybrid and prefer campgrounds with full hook-up sites.  Thanks!

There are two RV parks just outside of Ocean City, Frontier Town and Fort Whaley. Both have websites and are owned by the same people. Frontier town has a western themed amusement park adjacent to the campground and therefor has a lot more children running around. Fort Whaley is down the road and a little quieter. The websites have lots more info.

I would recommend Fort Whaley.

Depends on what you're looking for in a campground.  I would prefer Assateague Island National Seashore campground.  It's dry camping with few facilities in the campground, but being in the middle of a National Seashore is well worth it to me.  Frontier Town is only a few miles from Assateague Island, so it wouldn't cause you considerably more travel time to Ocean City.  At any rate, this could be another consideration for you.

I am with dthurk in liking Assateague Island National Seashore.  No hookups in the NP though.  Like the others have said if you want full hookups Frontier Town and Fort Whaley are your choices.  I have not been to Fort Whaley, so I can't comment on it.  Frontier Town is too cramped for me, but it is a very popular campground.  The western amusement park doesn't open until summer, so if that is a concern you don't have to worry about it.  Bathrooms were clean when I checked the campground out.:)

There is also a State Park on Assateague Island, before you get to the National campground.  I believe they have some hookups, at least electricity, maybe more.

Thank you all so much for your input.  I looked into Assateague Park but we really do not like dry camping.  It sounds like Fort Whaley is good for us.  I'll check it out online.  Thanks again.

By the way, if any of you know Steve (webmaster), I am his wife.

Has anyone stayed at Castaway RV resort??  It looks beachy which would be really great.

We camped at Frontier Town last August and will be making our week-long trip back there again this summer. Let me list the "Pros" on our list:

Water Park is FREE to campers
FREE shuttle bus to beach every 30 minutes ($1 at night)
Nice pool
Nice playgrounds
Clean bathouses
Good variety of sites (CABLE included)
On the bay
Fully stocked camp store (although expensive, nice in a pinch)
Grocery Store (Food Lion) nearby
Family oriented
Golf Cart rental (expensive, in my opinion, but definitely something we are going to do this coming summer - this place is HUGE)

We litterally could have stayed in the campground and never left because our son (and us, lol) loved the water park. We did venture to the beach on our last day (weather was cold and overcast/rainy the whole week except for that day) and even though the bus can get crowded it was nice not to have to worry about parking, which is not free. Now on to the "Cons" on our list:

Teenagers roamed about at all hours (I know, I am getting old and mean, lol)
I have heard that mosquitos are bad in the summer (we didn't have any problems, and you shouldn't in April)
Showers are kinda odd, as you have to keep pushing a button to keep the water running (in a hybrid I guess you don't have to worry about that, though)
Sky-high prices on camping equipment (Wal-Mart is not too far away)

Anyway, we absolutely loved our trip there despite the crappy weather, and are looking forward to our trip this summer. When we asked our son where he wanted to go on vacation this year he emphatically said Frontier Town and that sealed the deal.
