Are you guys interested in going to Riley's Farms (www.Rileysfarms.com) early October to enjoy their Fall festivities? Their pumpkin season starts early October to November. I only mentioned October because when we went last year, a week before Halloween, the apples were starting to get picked over.

You can pick your own pumpkin and apples, enjoy a pre-arranged tour and/or purchase a delicious LARGE apple pie. I mentioned this place mid/late last year after Matt went there for his Cub Scouts. We can camp at a KOA within approx 15 miles away. I know some of you don't care for KOA's but we've been staying in them the past couple years with no complaints. We can also stay at Yuciapa Regional park. With Yuciapa, the sites area roomy but extremely far apart but it's only about 8 miles from the Farm.

This isn't meant to replace or get in the way of the Halloween Rally. It's just a fun place to go (especially with kids). If this doesn't work out, that's fine. Maybe, some of you can make a day trip there.

BTW:  Riley's Farms also has cherry picking and there season starts in early June.  We could do a rally then instead.  The only problem in this is that they won't know how their crop is until Mayish.  JUST A THOUGHT.

What do you think?

if we do it early Oct, we have Santa paula in Oct too. I would be interested, But this is "Band season" so it may just be Kara & I. I would  give the KOA a go. The KOA may be better for the group, I LOVE  yucaipa but the sites are WAY spread out. I don't have a map of yucaipa anymore but I know some sites you can put 2 rv's in them

I was thinking about doing Julian around apple time.  We have stayed at Pinezanita in the past (our first pup trip) But I have also looked at William Heise.  It looks like a nice place, but I haven't planned that far ahead.

Wm. Heise is nice.  There are a few sites that have W&E, I think.  I was there in April one year (after the big fires down there) & really enjoyed it.  It was close to Julian, and it was kid-friendly.  It's a nice place, and the drive up is really easy.

We've been to William Heise several times and it's a nice campground.  The kids enjoyed picking apples at Riley's Farms last year and couldn't believe how many apples they consumed. They would enjoy  picking apples anywhere.  The Julian is cute but small and the kids like seeing the sites.   Along with the long winding road getting into Julian and traffic getting into San Diego, we probably won't go.

I wasn't trying to shoot down your idea, just telling you what I had in my little head.  We don't have any plans yet.  As for a choice of Oct or June.  i think i would choose June.  Two rallies so close together would be a bit much, plus I LOVE cherries!

Hi Kim,

We would love to go, probably a day trip do to schedules and the such. We will drive anyhere for good cherries, And you can't beat fresh apples. Did you say it was Yuciapa? My parents live in Riverside, wouldn't be a problem for us. Give us some more detail if you wouldn't mind.

According to their web-site, their cherry season starts in June.  I don't think you can pick apples until the Fall.    Pre-order your apple pie and you can pick it up at the white victorian house.

If you end up going, let me know how you liked it.

I'm fishing now to see if anyone wants to make this a rally. So far not many are interested. If you guys want, I can check with KOA and see about reserving sites and possibly arrange a tour in the White Victorian. This is where you can pick-up your LARGE pie that you pre-ordered.

If you want to make this a day trip, there's nothing for me to do. You would have to show up EARLY (when they open) to get parking.

Do you want to do cherries or pumpkins & apples?

Just let me know what to do.

Hate cherries..definately apples and pumkins...

I'm definatley interested....I haven't had a chance to really cheack it out

as I said before it may just be Kara & I. Kevin is in band but he only has to do Home games and competitions (all in the fall) so if they have an away game He can go.. Kara will be starting a new school (hoping-no openings yet) so I don't  have a calendar for that either

I've always gone up there in Nov. with the YMCA indian papooses and it's brrrrrr cold then. I know the town up there has a train , and pony rides and crafters with stuff too

maybe if there is enough of us we can get a little educational tour like they do for the schools, they can go on a big Hay ride around the orchard and make apple juice

We would be interested also.
Looking at the calender I am thinking the weekend of Oct 4 or Oct 11 would be good dates. Oct 11 might even be a 3 day weekend for some people.

:) So make it official, you have enough for a mini rally  :D

When we stayed in Yuiciapa, there was a town that had lots of fun things to do there.  It's between Riley's Farms and Yuiciapa Regional Park which is approx 8 miles away.
