HAS ANYONE BEEN HERE?    IS IT WORTH THE PRICE?   http://camphatteras.com

We spent a week there right after Labor Day last year.

Since the season was over, there weren't many people there, so it was fairly quiet.  I would imagine that if the campground were full it would be a different story.

It is a large open space-no trees/shade-and while the sites are not exactly on top of each other, if the area is full, you will likely be looking at your neighbor.

Pools are nice-there is an indoor pool and hot tub and an outdoor pool. The beach is a short walk over the dune via boardwalk and stairs.

Bathrooms were cleaned daily, even though they didn't get a whole lot of use while we were there--most folks were self-contained.

You might also try Ocean Waves, which is just about a quarter mile south of Camp Hatteras.  Smaller campground, but they have TREES and some shade.  Price is a little more reasonable too.  Depending on when you want to go, you will likely need to make reservations.

Hope that helps.

camp hatteras is nice but for the price , we drive to buxton and stay at cape woods, this cg is in a low area in the middle of the island with trees for shade and also the wind is alot less (I've never had to put my awning down at capr woods) and they have grass. check it out , you'll be glad you did.
