Plastic tasting water

I installed a new fresh water tank in my 82 Coleman Sequoia.
The water has a nasty plastic taste. I tried the bleach trick a couple times then got some powder chemical from my local RV dealer that is supposed to "freshen up and deodorize" new tanks. This didn't work either.
Neither of these methods even changed the strength of the taste.
Are there any suggestions for what will actually work for this?
Thanks

I like the 'ole baking soda/vinegar routine for freshening-up plastic water containers ~

For a 10 gal tank, get a small bottle of cider vinegar and pour it into the tank and fill about 3/4 with freash water and slosh it around a bit for about 5 minutes (pull the popup around a few blocks? LOL) - Drain out that solution (completely, but O.K. if still damp), then add a small box of baking soda and re-fill to about 3/4 with fresh water ... do the slosh about routine again. Drain completely and run some more fresh water rinse into the tank and drain.

Works wonders for that old midewy smell and taste but not sure what would do about that manufacturing chemical residue.

Good luck ... let us know what works!
