Off-road PUPs: black/gray water holding tanks?

I'm looking at a Jayco Baja 10Y vs. a Starcraft 11RT with shower/toilet options.

From their respective websites, it is not obvious if both PUPs have holding tanks for the gray/black water for the shower/toilet? Can I assume that there are holding tanks for the gray/black water? I don't find any capacity mentioned for them? Or are they cassette-style?

If there are gray/black holding tanks (in addition to fresh water tanks), I assume then that winter camping with freezing temps is out of the question, right?

I think that most pups have no gray/black tanks, if they have a shower/pottie combo, the pottie is a cassette type and gray water has to be captured in a seperate bucket out side of your pup, as for freezing temp camping i can't say we don't get those type of temps here.  AzRon

They both come with cassette toilets. Which have a 5 gallon removable cassette which by the way has an equivalent capacity to the 9 gallon RV black tanks used on ome PU's. As they use less water per use.
As for gray water, nope, no on board tanks in either model. Which IMHO is better than having one.
What happens when you fill up an onboard non removable tanks? You have two options. #1 close the camper down and haul it to a dump station, or #2 use a portable tank which you have to have without the holding tank.

This may be just a tad off topic but it reminds me to ask this question.  Since we have no holding tanks but instead have a Thetford cassette toilet, is there anyway to hook up a sewer hose from the toilet and run it straight into the sewer of a campgr

Someone did mod their tank so they could connect to a sewer.  I don't think it would be worth the hassle.  The cassette is easy to dump.:)

This discharge tube/drain for the casette sits at the top of the tank (as it sits in the camper). It would be easy if it was at the bottom of the tank but much more difficult the way it is configured. For me, it's not worth the hassle.

I have the Jayco 10Y and it does have a gray water tank.  The cassette toilet has its own tank.

Winter camping?  Wondered that myself.  I guess it depends on how cold and how long.  I thought of going dry except for some 5 gal jugs.  Maybe put glycol in the toilet flush water?

I wouldn't try to do it.  The cassette toilet tank empties from the top.  In order to make it empty from the bottom you would have to cut a hole, compromising the integrity of the tank.  If you were to acquire a second tank, maybe you could experiment with it and let us know how it works out.

You might want to check and see if glycol might react with your toilet chemicals or amonia. ;)

Thanks everyone for your input. And thanks for the confirmation of the gray tank, zillq. Do you know how many gallons it will hold?

Yikes! That could get ugly.  I would hate to have my tank become filled with a large brick of blue/pink sludgy stuff.  I wonder if formaldehyde polymerizes propylene glycol?

Run a heater wire to the storage tanks in winter.. Or do what I do and pack water in.. not with the camper!!!
