Went to pick up the tires and they had mounted Sport King tires, made in China of course. I tired them and they almost fit, but without any clearance. I'm going back and insist of Duro's, Sport trails, or drop down to a 4.80x12 tire, though I hate to.

My clearance problems are with the frame crossmember and front step.

3 sets of tires and all rubbed, even though they are the factory spec size. I had them mount the 5.30x12 Carlisle Sport Trails, since that is what they pulled off. They did rub lightly on the side with the step and nearly rubbed on the other side. I went ahead and trimmed the rail that the factory had already trimmed for clearance.  I just trimmed some more. The rail is well supported, so this won't weaken the frame in any way. I also swapped the small spacer on the front step mount to move it over 1/8" for a tad more clearance.

I was afraid if I didn't use the factory size, I'd have a hard time getting a warranty replacement if needed. I also didn't want to lose any load capacity by going to a smaller size tire.

Not sure what changed in tire manufacturing. Maybe all the tire manufacturing is farmed out overseas?

Anyone else have a similar issue with tire fitment?
