Expecting a high today in the 40's. Most all of the snow cover in my lawn is melted. Today is what some locals refer to as a "gray lady day." Complete cloud cover. Most days are like that here between December and March. They're saying we should see the sun by this afternoon.

My parents have been spending their winters in Florida during their retirement. I'm prolly about 8 or 9 years away from retiring myself, and have been spending some time thinking about whether I'd move to a warmer part of the country. The only problem is, tons of other baby boomers are thinking the same thing, and I can just imagine what it would be like to be surrounded by millions of other aching, aging boomers. Can you picture Led Zep at maximum volume pouring out of the nursing home windows (along with no small amount of funny-smelling smoke)?

Quote from: AZsixMaybe now is not a good time to tell you I have radishes almost ready to be picked, about 10 tomatoes on the vines, the zucchini has popped up and the onions are looking good. Growing up and living over 30 years in MA is one reason that I now live where it's warm most of the year. The fact that I can camp all year long is an added bonus.

Oh yeah? .......  Well I could have a garden right now TOO!

(If I had a heated greenhouse!)

 :sombraro:

I guess we'll just go snowboarding to pass the time until we can camp again....

If it makes you feel any better I haven't had to mow my lawn yet.

Are you kidding me... that is perfection..   it's beautiful, warm, fresh veggies ;growing in the garden, camping year round... and YOU DON'T EVEN HAVE TO MOW YET!   This is unreal, almost too good to be true... you better start pinching yourself...   :banghead:

Well,  we went camping for 3 nights from Sunday - Wednesday.  It was pretty cold.  Highs in the 60's every day and lows in the 40's at night.  We were at the beach, but did not get in the water.  I could only wear shorts and a T-shirt one day.  Got a little sunburned on the cheeks and nose.  We actually had to run the heater at night.  Wind was blowing about 10 mph so it was pretty windy too.  The campground we stayed at didn't allow fires, so no fire yet this year.  Hopefully we'll be going the 3rd weekend next month.  We'll be going to the Uwharrie Forest and they let fires up in that country.  Good time!  Sorry about you Cannucks and almost Cannucks(Yankees) still freezing.  I did my time in South Dakota growing up.  I got smart and moved south.

Compassion has always been my strong suit.  Thanks for noticing LOL.  You guys will get some better weather soon.  It should thaw by June shouldn't it?  You can get a couple months of camping with out snow.  Look at it this way though,  you guys have really good water and .............. did I mention really good water.  Oh, and coins that don't work in our soda machines down here.  Again "Go Habs!"

You know what the Toronto Maple Leafs and the Titanic have in common?    They both look great until they hit the ice...

Thats just wrong.  You shouldn't rank on your hometeam that way.  Oh by the way, I just noticed.  Nice camper eh.  I'm sportin an 06 Williamsburg.  Was almost sportin an 07 Avalon the other day.  The lot man made me pretty good offer.

Yeah we knew nothing about them until the late summer of 06 and we saw it at the dealer's lot and he gave us a good deal.. so we did it..   WE have loved it since... it's kind of painful to be making payments on something that sits closed up for 7-8 months of the year... but we decided that the fun we have with the kids and other families when we are camping it is so very worth it.

the wife and I have already decided that when it's time to trade trailers we will most likely go with a fleetwood again..

It's been intersting discovering this site and others to find such a pop-up trailer subculture... good stuff.. learning lots more about them too..

Dude I was looking at a map and you live in the middle of nowhere.

Yeah we love our camper.  It has taken us places we wouldn't have gone without it.  We were very fortunate and got involved with Coast to Coast on our first trip out with it.  That is a neat organization and it has helped us see places we wouldn't have either.  Out of all the pop ups I've seen I like the Fleetwoods the best.  I do like the idea of the Trail Manors, but they are expensive and not built as sturdily as the Fleetwoods.  They set up so fast though and handle the weather better.

Maps are decieving..  We live in a great spot.. about 25 minutes from city of Saint John and about one hour from Moncton NB...  They are small cities in contrast with New York, Montreal or Toronto... but they have everything we need....

I had a friend who worked at Michelin for 9 months in South Carolina...  he enjoyed it but said there were some pretty remote spots down there too...  He works out of the plant in Bridgewater, Nova Scotia...

Never heard of Trail Manors. will have to look them up..

I lived 17 years of my life in a small town in South Dakota so I know about living nowhere.  There are some very nice perks to living nowhere, but there are some nice perks in living somewhere or near somewhere as well.

Yes there are some remote locations here as well, but not like where you are from.  Hey do you have ice and snow arresters on roof?  Lets see if anyone even knows what those things are?   Do you plug your cars in at night still, or is it warm enough you can let them sit overnite with out freezing now?

I never plug in my car... some people do...  I know that in some part of the Prairies they still do quite regularly...

I don't have snow arresters on the roof... some buildings, especially steel roof ones have them.

pretty nice today, snow is melting nicely... yeah..
