This is the caption under the picture.  What the H#%$ is a Stinging Nettle?

IRRITANT LIKE POISON OAK: Purple poodle-dog bush contains a powerful irritant that burns like stinging nettles, fire official says.

If you ever touched a stinging nettle, you would know.
They burn.

Stinging Nettle grows in shady spots, near streams, and water sources.

I learned about the plant in the Scouts,  While the stalks are a real pain in the hand, arms, etc. when touched, it's leaves are edible, (and very tasty with a little garlic salt and butter), when cooked.  It's REALLY plentiful in our local mountains.  I still remember those Scouts who were tasked with collecting the plant for their Wilderness Survival meal!!:tent: The older Scouts would sometimes eventually mention at some point, "only touch the leaves...very gently and carefully". :Z
