Getting ready for my first camping trip today I noticed that the rear bunk on my PUP seems to sag. It is "supported" by four poles whereas the front-end support is a U-shaped support, which seems to work better because the front doesn't sag.  Has anybody had the problem, or does anyone have any suggestions?

I'm having a hard time trying to understand what you are talking about when you say, "It is 'supported' by four poles whereas the front-end support is a U-shaped support". Is your PU the same as the one in this link?? If so, can you describe the problem using these pictures?

What exactly is sagging in the rear bunk, the platform or the canvas (these are totally oposite problems) and what is the It that is supported by 4 poles (no Polish jokes....please  :D) .

Is this popup new to you? If so are you sure that you are putting the poles in the right way? Being that it is a 2008 model if your dealer is not to far away maybe you should check with him to see if everything is right.

I should think the owner's manual would cover that completely.  My Starcraft  owner's manual goes into detail on how the bunk end supports work, along with  all the other components of the camper. If your missing an owner's manual, or just having trouble understanding it, give Starcraft a call and they have a superb technical department that I'm sure can and will 'splain just how things  work!

I have a 2006 Starcraft Centennial 3610 and it sounds like we have the same type of bunk supports.  The rear has two sets of supports, the first has a "V" shape where the bottom hooks into the frame and the top hooks under the bed giving a rail to slide the bed onto, then two more poles support the outer edges.  The front has a "U" shaped support pole that the bed slides onto with two poles supporting the outer edges.  (Does that explain anything Waverly?)  I have had NO problems with sagging so you should DEFINITELY check with your dealer if it is under warranty.

It's not the canvas that's sagging-- my concern is that the entire platform/pull-out slopes downward.  The front end of the trailer has different pole supports than the back bunk. The front bunk lays on a U-shaped support attached to two poles and it seems to pull out and remain flat. But in the back, there is no U-shaped confirguration; instead the plywood of the bunk is held up by four individual poles that are inserted into four individual slots. Even when those poles are properly inserted, the bunk slants downward slightly.

My manual shows the set-up you are describing, but what I have is not what the manual shows.  I have four individual poles, so there is nothing for the bunk to slide out on.  Instead I have to pull it out, hold it up, then insert four separate poles. I'm going to call Starcraft.

Sorry I didn't respond sooner. Sagging bunk or no sagging bunk-- it wasn't going to stop me from camping!  I went to Santee Lakes with wife and 11-month-old son and we had a great time.  We enjoyed the fishing and biking, and our son loved the playgrounds.  The PU is definitely better than the ol' tent!  My wife loved the heated mattress top, my son had a clean floor to crawl on, and I enjoyed being able to eat inside when it was too cool outdoors. We all liked not being eaten alive by mosquitoes.  It took us quite a bit of time to get packed for the trip and then while to set up once we arrived at our campsite, but I'm sure we'll get quicker with practice.
