To make certain I had a camping slot on a couple of our fishing get-togethers, had to resort to booking a site through ReserveAmerica. Of course, that requires giving all the vital information ...

Now, I see there's an email from ReserveAmerica wanting me to join their camping club for $15.00 a year. Anyone here belong to that outfit ...?

Not a member of Reserve America, but am a member of Coast to Coast.  I really like Coast to Coast.  It has helped us explore more areas we never would have gone.  I'd recommend it.

No sorry.  I too have used them to book sites (Florida St Parks for example) but not joined them.

Never heard of it Fly...I belong to Alcoholics Anonymous :! .....It's free but I can only camp sober...

Huh???? Aren't the reservations and cancellations fees making enough money for them??

(I'm not a fan of RA... )

Member or not, Reserve America will still charge a reservations fee....

Coast to Coast doesn't charge a reservation fee.  They have a nice website to use to reserve your sites at over 600 CG nationwide.  I highly recommend them.  I pay between $10-$18 a nite for full hook up campsites year round at nice CG.  Look into it.

I could be wrong but doesn't coast to coast only list resort type campgrounds as well as private RV parks. I'm a state park, national park, national forest, army corp of engineers campground kind of guy. No shuffle board, miniature golf, square dancin kinda places for me.

That's why I use Reserve America. I'm not a member, but I use them.

Dude you gotta have the shuffle board, corn hole game, horse shoes, and bridge tournaments to be truly camping.  I don't even consider it a campground if they don't sell "baby-blue hair rinse" at the campground store.  If I pull into a place and I don't see a walker anywhere in sight, I'm outa there!  It's all about the geezers and the games man.

As far as I know, we have to use R A for our CGs.  At least the ones we want to go to anyways.  Mostly State Parks around here.  Some private, but not too many.

ScouterMom

yeah - Wisconsin State parks all use RA - I've gotten used to their program and making reservations, but I don't really like them.  It does make it easy to see what sites are open anytime of the year.

I used RA once to book a space at a VA State Park.  (3 yrs. ago) I now am on an e-mail list that continues to grow.

I have a Thousand Trails membership which I really enjoy, and like the full hookups as well as security and 'famili-ness'.  Having the propane refill available within the parks is a real plus for me.  (When camping in NC at State Parks, I had to search for propane refill - then felt I got ripped off, filling one tank and topping off the other - got charged for full tanks for both).

I recently joined Passport America, and am very happy to find a private campground near my daughter's new home for $12.50/night (FHU).  Will have paid for the membership in savings in one-two nights stay.

I love State Parks - the natural-ness, vistas, spaceousness, etc.  I foresee fees increasing to cover the costs of the gas increases too.
