We have an 2007 Fleetwood Utah and after having it  a year the water that we put in the fresh water holding tank always taste like a rubber hose. We have put bleach and water mix in the tank run several tanks through and the taste of rubber hose just continues. Please if anyone has any suggestions We would appreciated it! We would like to dry camp some but with this water problem that is out of the question......
Thanks and Happy Camping

When I do the annual water tank santitizing with the bleach/water mixture, afterward I mix in 4 oz of baking soda per 5/gal of water and let that set overnight. Next day I give the camper a run down the road and make sure all got sloshed around good then drain out the soda water and rinse good. Usually leaves the tank in good shape for the camping season.

The water from the pump type faucet in my Coleman tastes that way also unless I run about two cups off before drinking it after it has not been used for a few hours. I think it is most likely from the plastic or rubber diaphram in the pump type faucet. One other thing that you could try otherwise would be to add some vinegar to some water and run it through the faucet and then flush with some fresh water. I am not sure if this would help but that is what my owners manual says to do to get rid of the chlorine taste after sanitizing the system with bleach.

I use vinegar and water (50/50) to take the plastic taste out of water bottles and water carriers. It could work.

What type of hose are you using to fill the tank? It could be from that.

After sanitizing your tank and water lines with the bleach solution, and followed by the baking soda solution and a rinse/drain, you might try using a 'white' water hose and filter to fill your water tank.

A cheaper solution after the sanitizing process is to draw water from your tank into a filtered (Brita) water pitcher for drinking/cooking, etc.

Same as everyone else, sanitize the tank and then everytime we fill it we use a carbon filter just like when you have full h/ups and it makes a great deal of differance.:)
