I got a 03 niagara. went and got lux 110 thermostat. it won't fit in the recessed panel the old one was in. I saw somewhere in the forum the lux 100 is discontinued. is there another one that will fit. Or would it be better to relocate the new one? If so where?

You could always do the mod I did and install a box with a jack in it, then wire the T-stat with a cord. We plug it in when needed and set the T-stat on the table at night, much better control on heat as it will sense it quicker.theres pix in my link below. This is the first attemp but redid it with a single headphone jack and differant wiring which looks nicer and works better, just need to locate those pictures.

Just installed a digital in mine last weekend. I had a new heatpump system installed in my house this winter, and part of that package was a fancy new touch screen thermostat. I already had a pretty nice one in the house that they removed, so since I had it laying around extra, I decided to put it in the PUP. It is a Honeywell unit, and didn't fit in the plastic recess box either, so I went over to Home Depot and got a nice piece of 1/8" Red Oak veneer paneling out of the cull bin for 51 cents. I just removed the old thermostat, recess box and all ,and then cut a piece of the veneer a little bigger than the hole and screwed it onto the face of the cabinet using the original screws / holes. Screwed the digital t-stat onto the new piece, and we're good to go. Now that I'm sure it all fits right and looks OK, I'll probably take it back off and slap a couple coats of polyurethane on it. I don't have a picture of it yet, but it came out OK. I also put a piece of 1" closed cell foam behind it so it doesn't get too much influence from the water heater that's behind it. Haven't tested the operation of it yet. It's supposed to be around 100 deg. here in Phoenix this weekend (!) , but still cold enough up in the mountains for the heater.

Now if I could just get the weather, work schedule, etc. to all come together the right way, I just might make that first trip of the year...........

that's what I call thinking outside of the box. I like it.
I think I will do that myself. just think  :D  no more getting on my knees to turn on the heat  :-()
